August Band Crew!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Woo-hoo, that is cool!

I lost about 10 in two weeks, and started thinking maybe I could do it without the band. Then I hit 3 day stall and began to doubt that I could even with the band. Gee, mood swings anyone!? :huggie:

That has never even crossed my mind! I KNOW that I don't do it, because I have to fight to not go eat the entire chocolate cake I walked past about 4,000,000 times at teh store yesterday. This band has made me sooooo hopeful, and I can't wait. I am counting down the days!

Although it does help that the day before my band is the last day for my summer job, so on the same day I leave it, I leave for Mexico to get the band!

I have been working for 24 hours a day, 5 days a week since the end of May. granted, from 10pm-6am I do get to sleep, but I am still "on the clock" if anything happens. I can't decide if I am more excited about getting the band, or just about going to Mexico for 4 days. :biggrin1:

LOL-I can understand that.

There is a big part of me that's looking forward to a week of, with pain meds no less! Where I don't have to take care of everyone else, just me. I have some good books and movie set aside for then.

Is anyone who is about to be banded, a smoker??

I'm a smoker - I read that I can't smoke 2 weeks before surgery...why do you ask? If I go that far, I'm just going to quit all together.

They told me the same thing. No smoking. Plus, they also said (my dr) that I have to do this balloon thing, where I get 30 of those small party balloons and blow them up every day. It is supposed to increase your lunch capacity.

LUNG capacity. I just thought it was funny that I subconciously typed Lunch. :huggie:

Wow - I didn't get that information about the balloons...I wonder if cardio workouts count toward increasing the 'lunch" capaicity? (funny slip!)

I totally hear you on this - I'm thinking if I can do low carb and lose--- ahhh, but then I've said that HOW many times over the last several years?

I am cleaning, too. Isn't that crazy? I have bought the kids' back to school clothes and school supplies just in case I can't get around or don't feel like it! I have lost 13 pounds in the last 2 weeks on a high Protein, low carb diet. I have included all my "last suppers" in the last 2 weeks as well, just smaller versions of them. I just feel like it is the start to a new life. There is great comfort in knowing that I will not be returning to this size again.

I am doing no pre-op dieting till I have to start the liquid diet 10 days before surgery. All I get for the 10 days before is 4 cans of SlimFast Optima a day. :faint: I've already warned dh I'm going to be really cranky for those 10 days! I had my pre-op education class with the nutritionist today and got my list of what all I can eat for the 10 weeks after surgery. All I can say is I'd better lose weight during that stage! :huggie: Full liquids for 4 weeks, then 3 of pureed food and 4 of soft food. I'm going to get really bored with Soup and yogurt! :bored

I'm really amazed at the range of pre- and post-op diets required by our drs. I have to be on a pre-op high Protein, low carb diet for 2 weeks. This is certainly not the liquid diet I hear others are on. For post-op, I must be on liquids for 48 hours and then soft foods for the next 4 weeks. This differs signficantly from the 4 week post-op liquid diet that I have read that others must undergo. I guess for all of us it will be a matter of testing the waters with each food we reintroduce into our systems and that goes for everything from Vitamins to red meat!

Well, I had my Dr. Lecture today and I missed it... I was late cause I went to the wrong place.. AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHh

They almost canceled my 1 on 1 today and I was pissed. I told them what happened but they didn't care. Then I told them that I went to google videos and watched like 4 whole surgeries on video on how this is going to be, but they didn't care.

Well, anyway I still have my appointment tomorrow with the Dr. and I am going to try to get another fix in there. I have Diastasis Recti and I want that to get fixed.

Well, I am going to Las Vegas from August 1st thru August 3rd and I am going to have FUUUUUNNNN

Well anyway I haven't posted in here for a while so I just wanted to give an update. I also updated my signature, with my weight. A WHOLE 369 lbs .

I am going to start my liquid diet very very soon. WOOHOO:faint: :faint: :faint: :) :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
