I have been doing fairly well with my sleeve. I stay around 800 - 900 calories a day. I realize some may feel this is too much this soon out (7 weeks). But, I find that I lose fairly well in this range.

Anyway, even though we sleevers might think "OMG!!! 900 calories is sooooo much!" (can you believe we think that?), my body still sees it has too few calories. And, that really messes up my cycle! It has happened in the past when I went on very low calorie diets. I get my period every ten days to two weeks (my fun comment was obviously sarcasm!;) ).

My question - - for other women whose bodies react similarly, when did/did your body straighten out. I'm really not very excited about having to deal with a full period every two weeks. Thanks for the input!

The only time I've ever dealt with that is when my cycles return post partum (with nursing my cycles return around 10months) but I think that's because it's been so long and my hormones are dumping.

Maybe that's what's happening to you? Losing is causing a hormone dump...mellow.gif That makes sense actually. I can tell you what was suggested to me by my gyn....birth control pills....unfortunately the pill makes my psycho (seriously it's like roid rage only with estrogen and progesterone LOL)

Agreed... it's not the calories directly, it's all the hormones being released from the fat you're burning through so quickly. It's VERY common to have messed-up cycles during the losing phase, especially the first few months.

Happily, I had my surgery just as I was getting firmly into this whole "peri-menopause" deal, and I went from having one every 3-5 weeks (already getting whacky) to just one every couple of months now, so yay!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
