Sleeved on April 8th and had complications

Recommended Posts

Jen, so sorry you had complications with your surgery in MX. I hope you are now on the mend and glad that you found US doctor to threat you after the complications in Mexico. I would think ins coverage kicks in for the care you are getting here in the US. Yes, it is tricky to negotiate payments in Mexico. They have their own setup for that, so it frustrates the situation more. My surgery is in 16 days, I don't have a gall bladder. Mine is revision surgery from RNY to VSG. In my case, all depends on builtup scar tissue from the RNY. Currently doing the preop diet--been good thus far. I have an excellent surgeon who is connected to Dr. OZ in LA on a case where our local young lady was 700 pounds. My dr is treating her in prep for wls about midway down the road. Exciting times!! Also, I commend your not bashing your MX doctor over your complications. My dr assures me he is going to do my surgery "right". I have that much trust in his work and expertise with me. :) Take care, and continued successes with this journey.

Thank you for the support and so far my ins. is paying. I am thankful for that. I get my tube out Tuesday so I am excited. Next Tuesday will be the picc line. I am almost on my way to being where I need to be. Sounds like you have all of your ducks in a row and you have a good surgeon. Keep us posted on your progress and good luck. Jen :D

I had my upper gi and ct scans again today. They looked great. My doctor took my drain tube out finally and what a relief. Next week I get my picc line taken out and no more tpn.

So my leak looks healed and I am doing good. Still on Clear Liquids, but I am happy with that.

Now I can start enjoying my sleeve and losing weight.

Thanks everyone for all of your support.:)

Thank you !! I am tube and picc free. I am feeling great and losing weight. Such a relief to be normal again. I am glad to see everyone else doing good also. This surgery can be such a blessing. The leak was a set back I don't wish on anyone, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Jen

Awesome, Jen!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
