pnatalie1 0 Posted May 2, 2011 Just wondering if anyone had any info on Protein tablets. I am having trouble getting my protein in everyday. I can't do the shakes at all. I think its all in my head and I just can't make myself drink them so I'm trying to figure out how to get it all in. Thanks!!
Day Dreamer 23 Posted May 2, 2011 Just wondering if anyone had any info on Protein tablets. I am having trouble getting my Protein in everyday. I can't do the shakes at all. I haven't tried these but wondered why more people were not taking them post op. There are many brands but I tend to trust the ones made especially for bariatric patients. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&biw=1031&bih=700&q=protein+tablets&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=12278409554751532036&sa=X&ei=X6a-Tf2gJarv0gHnu83sBQ&ved=0CCMQ8wIwAA http://www.bariatricchoice.com/bariatric-chewable-protein-tablets-111.html

mandems mom 3 Posted May 2, 2011 The amount of Protein that you get per tablet is only 1 gram....so if you look at the serving size for the bariatric chewable, you need to take 6 just to get the 6 grams that they're referencing in the nutrition panel. I, personally, don't do shakes either, but I would never be able to take tons of pills everyday just to get protein either. I'd rather just deal with the extra carbs and have a glass of milk. I also didn't worry about my protein intake while on the liquid portion of the post-op diet and just made sure I kept myself really well hydrated.
Rootman 1,101 Posted May 2, 2011 Am I doing the math right on the first TwinTab product Pnatalie links to? 100 of 1000 MG tablets is only 100 grams of Protein, at $8 + a bottle isn't this kind of expensive and awkward to take. I mean taking as many tabs a day as you need to get 100 grams of Protein would be an entire bottle a day? Isn't 1000 mg equal to just 1 gram? The second product doesn't even list the quantity of protein available in each tab. Being at about $2 a piece the 29 gram whey Protein Shots are a lot easier to supplement protein. Valentina 2,642 Posted May 2, 2011 I think you would be better off trying to find a different way to get your Protein in. Have you tried Greek yogurt? Now, don't give me that face!!! Put a capfull of vanilla extract, one Equal package and a few fresh blueberries (mashed if you must), stir it up and give it a try. 18g of protein!!!! Let me know if you like it.
