Farewell to food tour is over

Recommended Posts

Okay, I tried to think of all the food I was going to miss and have all my favorites before the big liquid diet, but that is putting a lot of pressure on yourself. The only thing I didn't really get to do was go to my favorite Indian buffet, I really want some of those little dough balls swimming in sweet syrupy goodness, but, alas, I didn't get the chance. I know that eventually, I will be able to eat Indian food again, but I think it will be a long time before I can have one of those. To top it off, my vitamix still hasn't arrived!! It's not really a crisis, I do have a blender, but I was really looking forward to whipping myself some green smoothies. I had my birthday cake (lots of it), I had gnocchi, I had pizza, fajitas, burgers, fries, coke, ice cream, chocolate bars, a small box of chocolates, etc, etc. (During the last month, not all tonight, ha ha).

So here's to tomorrow, I will need lots of support, so will be checking this site often. I think the first three days will be the worst, followed by the last three days. I CAN DO IT!!!

Ummm, will I have stomach issues the first few days of liquids? Our bathroom situation at work is not ideal!

I didn't have to do a pre-op diet but whenever I have tried low carb diets in the past, I would have diarrhea on the 2nd or 3rd day. After that I would be fine. Good luck as you lose those pounds for the final time!

Just try to remembert that those six days of "discomfort" while on the liquid diet is leading you to a new life, and ensuring that your surgery will be successful. Try the Premier chocolate Protein Shakes from costco, they're quite tasty and filling. Good luck to you!!

I wish it were six days, it is two weeks total. So far, I am starving!!!! We don't have a costco where I live.

I have a surgery date of June 6th. I am doing OK with one shake for Breakfast and one for lunch and a light Protein packed dinner. I have lost 35# pre-op, BUT you can bet your Granny's undies that I WILL make one last pilgrimage to The Keyport Fishery before the middle of May!!!!! --Then it's on to my new life...:)

I have 8 days down on my 2 week pre op diet - The first 3 days were rough, I was always starving, but after that it really did get easier - I wasnt always in the bathroom, but a bit more then usual from all of the Water I had to drink - It gets better, and its only for 2 weeks, with great reward! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
