Hi! My name is Lissy, and I am overweight......lol, thought I could start out funny. I am in a waiting pattern right now because I am awaiting my surgery date and am getting antsy. I am scheduled to go in on May 19th and can not wait for the day to get here faster. I have been battling the weight I put on over a 10 year period. I put most of the weight on in a 2 year period and can't get rid of it. I have tried to lose the weight naturally but can't keep it off. i recently married my second husband and he is against the surgery. He thinks that I could lose the weight if I tried. He doesn't understand the weight difficulties, but then again he is 130 lbs and is trying to gain weight.

I came on here because it looks like a great site for help and support both before and after the surgery. I am hoping to get insight into what it is I am doing.

Off topic, how can I get those nifty weight trackers?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts, support and help. :P

Welcome to VST- it's a great site with sooo much information and advice/stories from others. I love it! I found waiting for surgery very difficult. You want so badly to have it over and done with and start your new life. Good luck to you as you wait and with your surgery as well. :)

Welcome to a great place for support!

I hope your husband can get on board as his support could really help you. But you are doing this for YOU! Stand strong and let him know how much this means to you . Maybe if he realizes how much more active and healthy you wlll be he will come around.

Here is the tutorial for adding your weight loss ticker-

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
