wishes 125 Posted May 1, 2011 I was just thinking, where do deviled eggs fall on the post-op plate? I know they are pretty good for Protein, low in carbs, but high in calories because of the Mayonnaise. How "bad" would they be considered? And are they considered a soft food? 2 Onmyway301 and jkale reacted to this
Saved By The Sleeve 22 Posted May 1, 2011 Soft boiled eggs, deviled eggs, egg salad, scrambled and poached eggs are all in the soft foods category. They are a good choice and I can only eat one egg no matter how it is cooked or prepared so I don't really worry about the calories
iegal 460 Posted May 1, 2011 During the soft food stage...and even today I had a really hard time with scrambled eggs. Only time I retched up any food was with scrambled eggs. But - read a post Tiffykins made and she said to try deviled eggs. Wow - love em. Okay, I don't LOVE them but I can get them down and they are a great way to get protien in the morning. Yeah Deviled eggs...just remember to chew, chew and chew. 1 Onmyway301 reacted to this

swizzly 901 Posted May 1, 2011 Egg salad and deviled eggs are awesome -- and they don't need much mayo for the small amounts you can eat. I make egg salad with one small boiled egg and about a tsp of mayo + a little mustard and it's delish. I think deviled eggs don't need that much mayo either. Plus, we do need to eat some fat, it's good for us. 1 jkale reacted to this
Tiffykins 673 Posted May 1, 2011 They were on my "mushy/puree/soft stage". I also mixed mine with non-fat, plain Greek yogurt and different spices/seasonings or even dry dressing Ranch or italian dressing with a little mustard, or spicy mustard to give some twang to cut the fat instead of mayo.< /p> 1 jkale reacted to this

Rev Me Up! 75 Posted May 2, 2011 I, personally, like fods that are more calorically dense. I can barely get in 600 calories as it is. So, deviled eggs are awesome! Also, about scrambled eggs, I can only eat eggs that I make myself because I make them over super-low heat, don't add any milk, and I cook them in regular butter. The result is a super soft consistency that I can swallow easily. Rubbery eggs won't work with my sleeve. Mmmmmmm, eggs...
nrslady 0 Posted May 11, 2011 What do you eat the egg salad with?.... since we don't eat bread.< /p>
swizzly 901 Posted May 12, 2011 I eat bread -- or crackers. If I have egg salad, I will use half a slice of wheat bread or 3-4 wholegrain spelt crackers. Yummy!

I make great deviled eggs and I know at least my husband would love me to make more. Hmmm. eggs are on sale this week.
