Always two bites away from 300 plus PBS

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have always been hungry and like food and wine. I kept it off with phen, exersize and starving myself. Gold member at all weight loss centers! I was never at my ideal weight, but never obese. However, I am always one more bite to a million pounds. Weight always came back. Always dieted like all california girls. Then, reached 35 and three kids and it is an impossible struggle. My sleeve is next week with Dr. Braverman. I like him and trust him. I am at my highest wt still after a year and can't get it off.(200 and 5'4) My insurance will not pay because I have not been officially obese for two years. My husband and I took out a loan because it is so important to me. I decided not to wait for comorbidities or other complications of obesity. My mom, dad , brother, etc.. Are all morbidly obese. I am tired of avoiding thin people because of my insecurities. I want to go places with my husband and kids and focus on us, not my insecurities. I hope this will help me. I just don't want to be always hungry and feeling like a failure. This is why I choose the sleeve. I can use the support from this site. My friends do not agree, and one has even stopes talking to me because she was my dieting partner. Thanks for reading!

Our stories are similar as so many here. Glad to hear you are willing to step out and make a change to help yourself be healthy. You are fortunate to have a husband who supports you. Sorry about your friend, she is either secretly jealous or scared, maybe both.

I am excited for you!

Nice to meet you! I'm fairly new, too. I haves learned so much in such a short time here. It's great for learning and moral support and, although I haven't experienced it YET, a good ole kick in the pants sometimes....in a nice way. Lol

good luck with your journey! I really identify with your reasons.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
