I need to find cheap flights from NOLA or BTR to San Diego. My daughter is willing to come with me but she wants to bring a friend to be with while I'm in surgery and in the hospital. The cheapest I can find for myself are over $300 round trip which isn't bad. Had i booked this last week I could have gotten flights for a little more than $200..... HELP!

i ran into the same thing...i went to priceline.com and named my own price...the tickets were going to run me 630 a piece...that was insane...so anyhow i put a bid in to NAME MY OWN PRICE of 360 and it denied it. so i put in 380...denied again but then it spit up a page that offererd other options. some woould not work...such as my surgery is may 9th and wont be discharged til may 12th..they offered me to fly back on may 11th for 220...wouldnt work...so then they offered me 330 after taxes and everything if i flew out on the 7th...so i weighed my options and it was cheaper to go that route and get a hotel for the two days before my surgery.. so instead of paying almost 1300 for mine and hubbys tickets we are paying 860 and get a mini vaca in a very nice resort. hope this helps

Most airlines publish new fares on Wed morning after midnight and that is also the best day to search too. ie: don't do actual searches on Fri-Sun regardless of your itenerary. In addition, the cheapest days to fly in/out are on Tue and Wed. Also, look at kayak.com for multiple quotes, and I always search Southwest and Jet Blue directly from their sites.

Those are all my secrets...I usually fly twice a week, going on 11 years now and I play thier game. :)
