Trying new hair loss product.....

Recommended Posts

Well, I am 4 months out and the Hair loss started about 3-4 weeks ago. Not balding by any means, but significant thinning. Have a small handful every day. I think I am vacuming up as much hair from me as from the cat if that tells you anything.

I went to get my roots done and a trim yesterday, thinking that at least what I had left needed to be shaped up. I was talking with the beautician and she gave (sold) me a new set of products by Redkin. Now, I am always a bit of a sucker for a good product line and have more half used, had to try it beauty products in my bathroom closet than anyone I know. But, I decided that it was worth a shot. She did say redkin was giving it a 30 day money back guarantee, no questions asked. I could just log onto the website and they would cut me a check if I did not see improvement. So, anyway, I bout the 3 product kit. It was only like $35. I figured when she started on the guarantee, etc that it was going to be way more. The lady that owns this salon has lapband about 2 years ago and is one of the lucky success patients with it. She has lost like 150 pounds and has done great. I and my hairdresser talked with her about the surgery, etc and if it would help WLS alopecia (fancy name for hair loss), etc. She seemed to think it would.

I will let you know how it goes. If anyone else wants to give it a try instead of waiting for my 1 month report, it is called Redkin Intercept. I got the 3 piece kit, which is a Shampoo, a toner (conditioner they just call it a toner) and a leave in treatment. It does make my scalp feel all tingly. It is supposed to help with scalp circulation as one of the things it does.

Just thought some of you might want to know.

Thanks for sharing. I have grown my hair out and hoping not to lose too much. I heard Omega fish oil was good to take. I know it works great for shedding dogs..why not people. lol

I hope I don't step on any toes:

Well, I wish you well and I hate to be a harbinger of doom but I'm afraid there is little a topical solution can do to prevent or reverse this, only time will slow and reverse the process called telogen : https://secure.wikim...ollicle_cycling . It is natural and is happening in a more massive scale than it usually does due to the trauma of anesthetic, surgery and the abrupt diet change.

We literally waste millions (billions?) on hair care products in the first world. Most of them do nothing except make a very expensive sewage runoff.

Again sorry if I step on any toes but the factor here is TIME and plenty of Protein to get your body out of the shock it's received and start allowing things - like Hair growth - to resume again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
