So I have totally been letting my brain win this week :( I have been eating like CRAP and last night really did it! My roomies went and got chicken which is great cuz it's good Protein and such. Well I ate two chicken strips, a few fries and a 1/4 of a biscuit in a VERY SHORT amount of time and I was paying for it!! I came SO close to throwing up, it scared me :( I was actually in the bathroom with my mouth producing A LOT of "water" just like before I throw up but thank goodness I never did (#1 reason I did sleeve instead of band, I HATE to throw up). Now today, I have been in the bathroom twice before 0730 :( That is not like me and it's bad, stomach cramps and all :(

I haven't been on here as much as I would like. Haven't been to a support group since I moved 2 months ago, haven't seen a surgeon or NUT since I moved either and I think I am just letting being around others who are eating "normal" effect me and I HAVE to stop that!! I still have a good chuck of weight to lose (even though I do feel GREAT!!)!

I am trying to tell myself that we will all go through times when we could be doing better and that it's normal but dang, it's hard! LOL

Ugghhh!!! This can happen no matter what you're eating if you eat too fast and too much. I was eating some healthy baked fish a few weeks ago and it was pretty dense. Well I guess I ate too fast and I got the worst pain of my life. NO warning either! I didn't even have the chance to stop - so I was retching next to the trash can and then became dizzy like I wanted to faint. It was pretty scary... but it reminded me that just because I'm months out I still need to take it slow while eating.

I also notice that since I'm withing sights of goal (yes, I still have a good chunk to go as well) I'm becoming a little more lax than I should too. Gotta keep it straight though or I'll never make it.

It happens, and I truly think this is a lesson every single one of us sleevers will eventually go through. Lesson learned. :)

This sometimes happens to me at work since our breaks are timed. I drank a little too quick and too much and went to the bathroom with a cold sweat and upset stomach and hypersalivating. Now I don't bring anything heavy with me. Maybe just a little cup of applesauce or something. If I am going to eat anything more than that I save it for home. :P

Yeah, for me the "warning signs" are pretty hard to recognize. I've had the sensation a few times and definitely did NOT like it so I now err on the side of caution and stop eating when I get even the slightest sensation of "full". A few times when I really DID need to eat the whole portion because I was not getting enough cals I just stopped and left the food set for 10+ minutes or more and took a few sips of Water.

For those of you who have not experienced it, it is just awful. One or two bites of food - especially dense stuff like chicken and my heart starts to pound out of my chest. The waterfall starts down my throat and the urge to vomit gets intense. I get very anxious and my stomach seems to be ready to explode. I have to sit very still till at least the vomiting sensation is gone and then get up and walking around seems to help the rest subside.

NOT fun!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
