CALLING ALL SLEEVED

Recommended Posts

So im trying to get all of my ducks in a row and i have no idea what i should bring with. I guess i should start by saying that i am going to Juarez Mexico and having my procedure done by Dr. Rod. I have seen a few post but was hoping to hear what some of you brought that you were glad to have and some of the things that you wished you had. THank you so much and i appreciate any advice you guys give me...thank s so much

Chapstick was a good thing to have. Oh and Gas X as you can not buy it in Mexico, I personally did not use mine and the box remains unopened but most others used theirs. I would think for travel back have something for nausea just in case you need a pill and it would be hard to find that at the airport (or it would be pretty jacked up in price). Comfy pajama's are always high on my list and loose fitting comfortable pants and top for the travel home. Hope this helps a bit.

If you're going to MX just don't forget your Passport! Other than that here is a list you might find useful:

Both are great answers...I would also add taking some reading material. Most of our patients complain about the TV...we have satellite TV but patients want more english-speaking channels. Some books and maybe a magazine or two will do the trick!!

Best of luck!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
