scared & feeling numb

Recommended Posts

Try not to panic (easier said, I know!) Several years ago my mother had a lump that did turn out to be malignant. She had a lumpectomy and did a one year course of non-chemo treatment. She had no side effects to speak of, no fatigue, and has had no further issues or sign of reoccurance.

There is of course every chance in the world your situation is something harmless - just want to remind that even if it isn't, doesn't mean you won't be totally fine as well!! That being said, I completely remember the feeling of waiting for those test results and am so sorry you are going through it!

I too am sending you my thoughts and prayers. My mother was diagnosed approximately 6 years ago and I was sure we were going to lose her, but she is still here, has had some rough times and her cancer was difficult because it was HER2 + and more difficult to treat, however, it has not recurred thus far and she is doing well. I know you are going to have a tough road ahead and I wish you all the strength you need, you CAN get through this. I hope you find out it is non-invasive. I know you will probably find yourself spending times on other forums which are more particular to cancer, but please keep us updated!!

Praying for you. You're a fighter and will make it through just fine. I have had two girlfriends that had it and are doing great! WIth the recent medical break throughs, you will over come this hurdle in no time.

As a breast cancer survivor of 2 years now I can sympathize with you. I know exactly what you are going through.

It is tough, but time flew by for me and I prevailed. You will too. I had bi-lateral mastectomy, reconstruction, and chemo. If there are any questions or support you need, please feel free to ask. I will be thinking and praying for you. Jen

Sending my prayers and best wishes your way! Just went through this with my mother in March. We were lucky - stage 2 - opted for total breast removal and she is now starting hormone therapy - no radiation or chemo needed.

I am having a routine physical today and mamogram next week. Scared me enough to get back on track with my preventive care schedule! Please keep us posted on the course of treatment you elect. Again - hugs and prayers coming your way!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
