mandems mom 3 Posted April 26, 2011 I typically get a massage every week, but have cancelled all my appointments until May 18 when I'll be 1 month out. Do you think that's enough time for me to heal and feel comfortable laying on my tummy for a massage?
apple-saucy 17 Posted April 27, 2011 I don't know...The only experience of surgery I've had prior to being sleeved was c-sections...and definitely would not have been able to handle tummy laying 1 month out. I'm guessing though since these incisions are smaller and spaced out it might be easier. I guess wait and see.
NJMOMof2 17 Posted April 27, 2011 I am a stomach sleeper and as soon as my drain was out (10 days post op), I slept on my stomach for 8 hours a night. I am sure a one hour massage will be great and won't be a problem. Enjoy yourself

I had my Sleeve on a Tuesday and I got a massage the following Wednesday after my pain ball was removed. My masseuse has a memory foam topped table so I was fine with it. Just tell the masseuse that you had surgery. He was a little more gentle on my lower back than normal the first time post surgery. I got my band on a Friday and I had a massage Sunday- it help to be friends with a masseuse. I have been getting massages about every other week since I got my Sleeve. DisneyAddict 10 Posted April 27, 2011 I'd imagine for a professional massage, as soon as you can lay on your stomach without any pain/discomfort you ought to be ok. It's not like a massage would be very jarring. The day after I came home from the hospital my husband gave me one to help relieve the "air bubbles" I had in my body. I didn't lay on my stomach but kind of propped my upper half on my arms over a bean bag pillow chair thing on the floor and stayed on my knees.
