What type of B-12 are you taking post - op and what is the dosage. I hear everyone is different.

Thank you.

I took an OTC sublingual tablet. Got it at Walmart.< /p>

Several dosages are available, start with the ~1000 mcg and when visiting the doctor they should run a standard blood panel for Vitamins and minerals. You can adjust your dosage up or down as indicated by the results. B12 is relatively benign and is Water soluble - which means the excess is easily flushed out by the kidneys. However nearly EVERYTHING can have toxic side effects if taken in excess, including, oddly enough, Water itself.

I started out taking the 1000 mcg dosage daily and dropped back to every other day when it was tested high. I've since dropped it entirely since I've been taking EmergenC Vitamin C drink to lower my urines PH level (more acidic) to help prevent kidney stones. It appears to be working as I've not had a kidney stone incident for over a month now.

I take a sublingual B-12 Nature's Bounty I got at costco. It is 2,500 mg and I take it daily. I am pre-op, but was told by my nut that the dosage is fine for post-op and if it needs to be adjusted after blood work, I will be told.

I use Puritan's Pride B-Complez sublingual liquid under the tongue. It is pretty inexpensive. But I also tried Celebrate Vitamins' B-12 Sublingual in Cherry and it was good also. If you click here: http://www.celebratevitamins.com/component/chronocontact/?chronoformname=sample

They will send you about a dozen different Vitamin samples including the B-12 Sublingual for free and no shipping. I asked for the samples on a Friday, they were here Tuesday! Some I liked, others I did not care for. But I did order their 90 day suppleymutlivitamins toady.

Hope that helps!

I am doing injectable B-12. Per my doctor I will be injecting 1 cc every week and if needed I could do 1 cc 2-3 times a week if needed for energy.

I just did my 3 month blood work and I was at 505 pg/mL with the "normal" limits 211-946 pg/mL. My surgeon start treatment if you fall below 400, but my primary is a little more pro-active.

I'm taking the Members Mark generic Sam's Club brand, sublingual B12, 2500 mcg. You get 2 bottles of 200 microlozenges for less than 10 bucks. That's well over a years worth. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
