I am curios about a food diary. I have not been told by insurance or surgeons office that I need to complete a food diary. I have cigna Insurance. Obviously I have not done a food diary. What to do??? Should I just not worry about it???

I'd say if it's a prerequisite that they want then go ahead and do it. It can be as simple as a piece of paper with the Breakfast, lunch, dinner and Snacks you eat on it. I would bet they also want to track your caloric count too so you may have to pick up a pocket calorie book - which will probably have a diary built in to it.

There are scads of online ones: https://encrypted.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q=food+diary&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=

I use http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ as it also records exercise too.

I think food diaries are an excellent way to keep an eye on what you are doing both pre op and post op. I don't really do one unless I'm feeling like I need to give myself a good kick in the rear. I know when I'm doing the rights things and when I'm not. So, when I'm not this will get me back on track very quickly. The last thing I want to do is see that I have eaten something I shouldn't have!

Though you are just starting out so in my personal opinion you would benefit greatly by having a food journal whether it's required or not. There are tons online and many are free. I use dailyplate.com when I'm journaling.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
