donniej 35 Posted April 26, 2011 I was wondering if surgery cost for the sleeve in Mexico can be claimed on income taxes?
Becca 108 Posted April 26, 2011 Yes. I claimed my lapband when I had it in Mexico. You can also claim travel expenses (hotel, flight, etc).

Rootman 1,101 Posted April 26, 2011 For USA taxes YES, but only if your medical expenses OVER 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. Here is a site that has a lot of tips - a good read: http://www.bankrate.com/finance/money-guides/maximizing-your-medical-deductions-1.aspx Remember you are not getting a tax rebate, you are just not paying taxes on the amount you spent out of pocket for medical needs over and above 7.5 of your adjusted gross income. And that's only if you can use the long form and itemize.
donniej 35 Posted April 26, 2011 Thats great news, hoping to possibly recoop some of the expenses. Being self pay is tuff on the bank account. Thanks for the replies. Donnie 2 failed lapbands ready for a change.
