Hi everyone! My name is Robin and I live outside Nashville, TN. I was banded on 05/31/06 and had my first fill today. So far so good!

A little about me, I'm almost 41 yrs old. I have a daughter that is the light of my life. She truly is the apply that didn't fall far from the tree though she doesn't like hearing that because she's a teenager, lol! She's also very proud that I had the surgery and even joined Curves with me to workout so I didn't have to go alone.

I love pro football and am an avid fan of the Tennessee Titans. I'm also very into music with The Cure being my very favorite!

I debated for years on the gastric bypass but just never felt it was right for me. I work with lots of people that have had the lap band and started doing research on it. As I learned more and more about it, I knew this was the surgery for me.

I'm sure there's a ton more I could share with you but thought I'd give a brief overview of me, haha! Thank you for this forum. There's so much to read and learn.

Sincerely,

Robin

Hello Robin, WELCOME, I was banded 4/25/06 and Im 25 yrs :-) So far I have lost 16kgs (including the preop diet) and since my surgery I have lost 9kgs. I dont have any fills yet, they just want everything to heal perfectly and since Im still losing I dont really want the fill.

Im not excercising much, cause lately the weather here has been terrible over 30 degrees Celsius, and I would faint if I excercised:-)

Good luck to you!!

Eva

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
