Ugh! Another 1 pound week... wahhhh!

Recommended Posts

I feel totally silly even complaining about any loss but I only lost a pound last week and again one pound this week. I stay within 700-800 calories a day. Get my Protein and most of my Water in. Always take my vites. Have increased my exercise to 4 times per week. I haven't had a true stall since surgery but my loss is not as dramatic as others. I'm not complaining to loudly... really... but I just worry. My surgeon expects me to lose 5 pounds per week... so I feel like a bit of a failure. My rational self knows this is total crazy talk.

I measured myself this morning and I'm still losing inches - which is a relief. I guess I'm just venting about the slooooow way my body is releasing weight. I know - I know - when in my life have I ever lost 60 pounds in 4.5 months! I just have so much left to lose and I'm worried I may never get there.

I'll stop whingeing and go off to Zumba and try to dance out my anxiety!

Jenny,

i am with you. I have the same issues some weeks. I have only lost 1 pound a week for the last 3 weeks. I think our bodies have just been through so much that out metabolisms are trying to catch up. It is still coming off though. That is what I keep telling myself. Keep your chin up.

You have to keep in mind that what you have lost this far is HUGE in that short period of time!! GOOD JOB!

And, you have this great new tool, that if used properly will work for the rest of your life! It is not a race. I know how badly we all want it to be gone forever, but it will go. Just don't beat yourself up about it. As long as you are not putting on weight, you are doing good.

Keep up the good work and the scale WILL move!

Kelly :D

Jennywren...

your post made me chuckle because you gave yourself all the good advise that anyone of us could... you know the answers!! You are doing such a great job and so far, in my opinion,. a massive success story. There will be times when weight slows, but steady is good and 5lb a week is a little bit high...keep doing what you are doing and looking after yourself.

I am a REALLY slow loser - but I ain't gaining so smiles here - anyway, what I do when the slow loss is getting on my nerves and I am frustrated is go and try on some of the clothes that I have saved from my biggest. I then watch them hit the floor when they fall off and all of a sudden I feel better and much more positive!

Chin up and feel free to vent at will... you're in safe hand here... =]

Thanks for the encouragement! Zumba helped some - but your posts are most appreciated!

Coops: I am an obsessive lurker here and have learned so much from all of you... I guess some of the advice I've read has really sunk in!

Hang in there...its tough to slowly watch the pounds drop when you would love to just wake up tomorrow and be at goal. Just remember what life was like before the sleeve and that will make you appreciate even a 1 lbs loss. Before the sleeve I would never even weigh myself b/c it was going up everytime I got on the scale. By the way, 5 lbs a week is very unrealistic...too bad your doctor set you up for failure b/c it is realistic to lose 1-2 lbs a week after your intial Fluid loss weight loss. So you are doing awesome...keep up the good work.

Great advice!!! And I love the thought of seeing my size 24's hit the floor when I try them on :P

I need to keep that in mind when I stall out! It seems so easy now but when the scale doesn't move, I will be freaking out like most others have. I think we are somewhat spoiled by the great initial loss and want to see results like that the whole way down. But that would be somewhat dangerous to lose so much nonstop. I don't mind it slowing to even a pound a week as long as it is not at a complete standstill for more than a few weeks.

You will be fine and after your body adjusts to the shock, i' sure you will be a loser again ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
