Menstral cycle

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was wondering if any of the women have experienced slow weight loss just before your cycle? I had my surgery March 31st and have dropped 20 pounds- this week was only 2 pounds(which is still great) just wondering?

I usually stall or maybe even gain 2-5 lbs right before my cycle. It really frustrates me till the hubby calms me down and says just wait a week and you'll see its just temporary, lol

i stall before my cycle and then after i tend to drop a lot. like anywhere from 3-6 pounds. but has anyone noticed that when your cycle comes around...your pouch is more forgiving? I mean, it just seems like i can eat more without the full feeling and the vomiting. its wild. and then right before my cycle is over, my tummy returns to normal. anyone else experience this?

Yes my weight fluctuates a lot based on where I am in my cycle. The week of my Pd I'll stall, gain a few and stay there for a week. It really depends I guess that I have super cravings during this time and I tend to give in. It's super difficult!!

However, a week or so later I'll drop those extra pounds I've gained which puts me back to my original weight. Then the few weeks before my Pd. I'll drop massive weight - even up to 15 Lbs. It all works out - I guess since I'm going on my 8th one since surgery I'm pretty used to it. It doesn't bother me as much as in the beginning.

As far as how my stomach works, yes I've noticed I can eat more during my Pd and less when I'm not. Very interesting!

:)

Same here!!!! CAN EAT MORE DURING CYCLE???? GO FIGURE..... and I stall 3 days before and don't lose anything.....gain a couple pounds and about 4 days later I lose the 2 lbs I gained plus about 3 more. Every time I have dieted in the past this also happened so I should be used to it right? NOT....IT IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT A WOMAN JUST DOESN'T GET USED TO I GUESS!!!! LOL

Women tend to retain Water the week before their period, and shed it during or right after.

I also crave carbs like a mad woman right before my period.

So I was just coming here to talk about this! UGH! I have totally seen a gain (I try not to weigh myself at all during TOM but I did dang it!) and it does really seem like I can eat A LOT more then usual! I know now that after 5 months that it is temporary but dang it sucks to see the numbers move up! BUT, I guess I should still be happy because my clothes actually seem looser then last week! LOL

I wish I could tell a difference, but honestly I've had mine a billion times since my December of 2010 surgery. My body is just out of whack right now!

Oh thank GOD! I was searching like crazy about this issue!! as today I have to stop myself from snacking .. I feel hungry all the time before my TOM starts and on the first 2 days too, I seem to be able to eat more too... its crazy, as if the hunger is back! then after the third day all of that fades away! but I am really hating this!

I hate feeling vulnerable to food!.. so thank GOD I am not alone on this issue, although I would love it to never happen:(

Before my surgery, I would always eat like there was no tomorrow the week before my period. Once my period hit, then I wouldn't want to eat at all for a week. Glad to know others experience things like it too.

I had my surgery last Tuesday - supposed to be the first day of my period. Well, it hit me yesterday. I imagine the fact that I am so close to my surgery is the reason why I'm still losing weight right now. I do not look forward to that changing. :(

I am 10 months out, and I am right there with you! Three days before my period and two days during it, I am a hungry, eating machine! I feel like I too can eat more during this time, but truthfully it's the foods I eat (slider foods). Once the third day hits, it's back to normal! I'm just grateful I don't feel like a food monster everyday anymore! I can handle five days! Hehe! Good luck, Ladies! P.S. Never weigh yourself during TOM, it's never a good idea. Hehe! :D

I seem to only gain 1/2 to 1 pound during this time. (I drink Water like mad during TOM) Could account as to why I don't gain so much weight. I don't notice much of a change in how much I eat. My weight doesn't move at all during this time. Maybe drinking all of the Water keeps me kind of in balance. Right before TOM I lose 3-5 pounds. Then it isn't until the end when the scale starts to move again.

My period has been sooooo regular postop, and it's awesome! I've never really been regular before. So, as per the norm, I get really emotional and have lots of cravings the week before. My weight tends to fluctuate a few pounds and stay that way for a couple weeks, then when my period starts, I lose a bunch of pounds after the first couple days. It seems to be the way I'm losing weight, but at least it's somewhat predictable. :P

You are isnpirational! I too have wierd stalls and that when I get my period. My question is, have you ever had a period on and off? I stalled for 6 weeks, and just dropped 10 lbs. overnight, all the while having a period that is on and off. Any ideas?

Actually yes, when my Pds are all crazy like - they are more on and off... and on... round and round.

The last few months for me have been really good and back on track. I'm not sure why I had a little spell of crazy Pds, but I did. Of course I was full steam ahead in my weight loss then too. Right now I"m just coasting and though I'm still losing, I"m not really pushing it like I was.

I think the only answer is just give it time. I would see a Dr. though if it lasts abnormally long, are overly heavy or anything strange like that. GL!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
