Did they shave your stomach?

Recommended Posts

Men of course. Calling all men, did they shave your entire stomach area before the surgery?

Thanks?

Yes, and don't do it yourself.

They shaved mine, looked really funky. About a week or two out so I took out the clippers and clipped the rest of my chest to match. I decided to keep it that way in spite of my wife's initial negative response to it. A couple of months later she told me I need to trim it up because my chest hair tickled her nose. I guess she wound up liking it. Never too old to " manscape" I guess.

My husband is very hairy. Yes, they shaved him. They shaved a large circle out of his chest/belly area. The weird thing is that as he loses weight (he's down nearly 50 lbs) he looks hairier! Maybe because as he shrinks the hair folicles are closer together? I dunno!

And they shave women too! I didn't think my stomach was hairy, but I know it was shaved because I had razor burn all over my stomach after surgery!

Yeah I am definitely hairier too. I am not sure about the follicle theory. I know for sure that my testosterone level shot up more than twice what it was and 7X as much as before I started replacement therapy. The doc said that I now have less body mass to dilute the hormone through and therefore my level rises - which makes me hairier and my facial hair more heavy too.

Yeah since his face is smaller, it looks like he has much more beard. Of course, he likes to wear a full beard all the time so he likes his werewolf locks. :)

Hello caleybooth, I see you and your husband used Dr. Almanza for your surgeries. I am going to him the end of May. What positives and/or negatives do you have to say about your total experience from facility, staff and surgery? At the recovery house, who was your host and can you tell me about that experience.

Thanks.

Yes they did, but not my chest. Not going swimming anytime soon anyways, but it sure looks weird!!!! If I go into a pool I usually wear a t-shirt as I have a big scar from my triple bypass, scars from my gall bladder surgery (laproscopically), and an ugly one from my appendix (in 1957). Clamps were all the rage then and my appendix scar therefore is huge.

I tried to insist they shave the chest too, as many times those ekg monitor things are put on with super glue or gorilla glue.

One time when they pulled the leads off, the patch looked like someone cut it off from a Teddy Bear and YOU KNOW WHAT IT FELT LIKE!!!!!!!!

Peace out :D

If my Dr.s' scale is anywhere close to my surgeons I am closing in on 27 pounds off in 3 weeks. I didn't think mine would come off that fast as my BMI was not terribly high and in the past 2 years I had already lost 35 pounds.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
