So I was sleeved on 4/11 and this morning I am in pain. First it was on the right side now its on the left...I dont know if its gas, or muscles tightening up....it kinda feels like a charlie horse in stomach muscles but if i try to stand straight up it hurts....i am walking hunched over or if I lay on the couch stretched out it feels better...i have been massaging it and it feels better when I do that....why am I regressing...when will this pain be over

its not the direct incision but the area surrounding the incision

Could it be gas blink.gif

Did you have a drain? I had my surgery on the 12th and got my drain pulled yesterday. When it was in, my ribs hurt all the time (it was inserted just under my left lower rib). As soon as it was out my belly is alot less sore. But it hurt like a @%$@# coming out though. I get a little sore on the incision areas if I bend over or something too. Good luck!

Sam, you and were the same day and I've been sleeping on my side or stomach for awhile. I didn't have a drain though so not sure about that. If it's gas I would think if you walked you would have some relief through belching. I will say that I have some stomach muscle twitches going on but not bad pain. Call your surgeon. Keep us posted.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
