Calling Sacramento/East Bay people?

I am trying to test out Protein Shakes and find some that I like before I even start my pre-op diet so that I can know ahead of time what I like and stock up on it. I wanted to see if anyone in the area (pre-op, post-op or already sleeved for a while) wants to get together and have a "shake party" and test out some different types of shakes. It would be a good way to save money, try new Protein shakes and meet some people. :)

I wish I was closer! I posted in nutrition to do the same thing here in the Peninsula/South Bay- I have about 18 kinds to try and hate to waste it on just me. I do go to Fremont for some of my appointments but that's about as far as I go!

Hope you find some peeps !

Ah, bummer! Yeah, I would really like to find at least one person. The more the better, because we could try more types. I'll just keep trying. Good luck to you, too! :)

Just a heads up, what you like before may not what you like after! Buy samples and try them after is my advice.... I had a stack of diferent flavors, I would try one each day, and rate the packages... later I went out and bought whats I liked.

Did you join the Sacramento Yahoo support group? I found a shake I like but I have lots of samples I didn't even try. I could bring them to the group.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
