I need a new scale...

Recommended Posts

My scale has gone wonky after an unfortunate accident so I need to buy another one. Any recommendations? Aside from those tre expensive health o meter doctors scales...or the amazing one at my doctors office that looks like a treadmill... I don't have a ton o' bucks. Being as it is about to become the center of my universe ;-P

Walmart. I think we spent $24.99 on it. It keeps track of 2 people and goes in .2 increments. I am one that usually weighs twice a day (I know-I should only weigh once a week). Just a basic model. I did wish that it light up for the numbers but I can live with it.

I got mine on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Digital-Bathroom-Technology/dp/B001KXZ808/ref=zg_bs_hpc_28

Right now it's on sale for $28.95 (normally $49.99 but who knows how accurate that price is) plus you'll get free shipping. I've had mine for about 1.5yrs and it is super accurate. I had gone through three scales in a couple of years prior to purchasing this one. I like the blue-lit display and the numbers are easy to read, but it's accurate which is what matters most to me :D

Good luck with your scale search!

That looks awesome! Yep- accuracy is what matters. My husband accidentally tipped our almost new scale up on its edge and it crashed down. Today it was three pounds OVER my doctor (when does that ever happen!)- but last week it was two. I don't want to always be adding or subtracting to know how it compares.

It is super wacky for me to be wanting a scale- I did not weight myself for ten years before this!

I upgraded before surgery to the fancy H.O.M scales, but beforehand I had the $25 set from Walmart and they worked very well. I just didn't like that other people could access my user account by just tapping once or twice on the scale (4 neices who love to play with scales everytime they visit) so decided to upgrade to more "private" type of account access, but if you have no worries on that - they're great!

I just found a Good Housekeeping comparison that rated scales , and of course accuracy was a big part.

I am pleased to have this info!

I was not wanting to have to pay for Consumer Reports info...

Mine broke and I haven't had scales for at least 6 months, the best thing I could've done was not buying new ones, so I don't stress too much over stalls!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
