I had my surgery Dec 1st on a Wednesday. I went back to work the following Wednesday. I work from home for an insurance company answering calls and processing claims. I flexed working for 10's. I did get tired very easily that first week working only 3 days. My husband had surgery on March 30, another Wednesday and went back to work the following monday but only work 4 hours a day for that week. It all depends on how you feel. I had to go as anything beyond 7 days I had to go to short term disability which would have been a cut in pay and I just couldn't afford that. Good Luck.

Something to think about is how will you prepare your food and can you take the time to eat multi times during the day. I went back after a week and I work from home so I have everything here- a blender, lots of bowls, spoons, Protein , etc. If you go to work think about how you will be able to have what you need to make the food and the time to eat it.

I took 3 weeks and I am glad I did...i couldnt imagine returning on Monday....i have a primarily desk job but someone is always asking me to help them with something or I have meetings to go to and I just need one more week of rest.

Also i start purees on Sunday (was originally scheduled to start on my first day back to work) and this gives me a week or so of adjustment time to "eating' with my new stomach.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
