I am really sad after having my surgery... all I keep thinking is what did I do to myself??? Now b4 I had the surgery I had did months of research and talking to people that had wls and I really felt like wls was something that I wanted until now : ( I feel like I should have asked more questions about the surgery b4 I agreed to such a life changing decision . Someone else on here made a very good point she questioned why does so much of the stomach has to be taken out ?? Why not just 50% of it?? I just really wish I could turn back the hands of time and try another option because this and all the side effects suck I want to be normal again

When did you have your surgery?? I hear ALOT of people have "buyer's remorse" for a while, but then LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their sleeve later.

It is normal to feel that way if you are freshly sleeved, but just curious as to when you had your surgery.

Try not to give up on yourself and/or the surgery so early.

What side effects are you having? If it's gas, that would happen with ANY laparascopic surgery. If it's pain, same thing. If it's the food restrictions, you would have those (maybe not the same) with any weight loss surgery. i had the lap band before I revised to the sleeve and my post-op diet is almost exactly the same as the sleeve. I'm sure the more radical Gastric bypass and Duodenal Switch would be the same if not more severe.

You must have read on here how people feel better soon after having the surgery, but it's probably going to take a good 4-6 weeks for you to establish a good routine with your new tool and diet. Don't beat yourself up so quickly. You obviously did this for a reason, which was most likely that diets just don't work long term. Good luck to you!

Are you taking an acid reducer like prilosec or nexium? I just had my surgery on Sunday, but was given 2 months worth of acid reducer medicine to take after my sleeve. But I can tell you that I also had acid with my lap band which usually occurred at night. Definitely make sure you're using one of these products (can be generic) as it will help.

Are you eating certain foods when you get nauseous? I'm assuming you're on full solids now and really have no restrictions based on your date. I have heard people say that spicy or even fried foods will set them off. Everyone is different, but you have to be aware of what you're putting in your body and how your body reacts to know what it will tolerate and what it won't. It may just be that you still need a longer time to heal before you implement those foods that are now making you nauseous. If you're nauseous just drinking "safe" liquids like Water and diluted/reduced sugar juice, then I would definitely consult with your doctor.

((((HUGS)))))

It will get better. Your body has been through a lot and I think the anesthesia and especially the pain meds do a number on your mood. I was an absolute mess!! Pretty soon you will start feeling better and have more confidence in your decision. I didn't start "loving" my band until about 2 months post op.

Taking a PPI is very important to feeling better. If an over the counter brand isn't working, call your doctor for a prescription. I had some reflux in the beginning but it went away and I don't need it anymore.

Most of all, keep focused and try to look forward to things that your weight prevented you from doing. Stay on this forum and talk to all of us. That's why we are here for eachother.

good luck!!:D

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
