Rainydayz 27 Posted April 20, 2011 I found a tub of low fat cottage cheese in the bottom of my fridge. The exp. date is illegible but I think the year is 2010. It was at the bottom where things tend to freeze if not moved around a lot. I opened it and there is no smell and I tasted it and it tastes like cottage cheese. So, will it kill me to eat it? Rootman 1,101 Posted April 20, 2011 NO, throw it out! The expiration date is on it for a reason and it's long since expired if it says 2010.
Rainydayz 27 Posted April 20, 2011 Hmmm. Yeah, probably better safe than sorry. It's weird that it didn't smell bad tho.

Cmsumom 5 Posted April 20, 2011 LOL- to me it's already expired milk thats curded up- but I really wouldn't eat it if it expired that long ago.
mandems mom 3 Posted April 20, 2011 Like others have said, it seems very odd that it doesn't have a bad smell. I know when I've had REALLY expired cottage cheese in my fridge that I forgot was in there, it ends up having a yellowish liquid on the top and a really nasty smell. Are you sure it says 2010??? No, the date was pretty much obscured. That's what it looked like anyway. But I tossed it. No sense in risking a very bad day over a $1.50 tub of cottage cheese!
