I am depressed I cant do anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be two weeks since my sleeve and I am so sick of not being able to do anything. My Kayaks and surfboards are dry.....my fishing rods untouched....my boat covered. Im dying here!!! I keep bees and just picked up 3 more hives yesterday. My friend had to load them in my jeep!! I had to get my brother in law to help me build a rack in the yard for the new hives. I gave in and shoveled mulch with a small shovel...little wheelbarrow...and it took like an hour to do what would have took 15 minutes!! Then I was nervous I was pushing it!!! I pick up the bees tomorrow and have to get my brother in my bee suit to help get them in the hives. He isnt thrilled. I feel hopeless and I hate it!!! I also ride skateboards and bikes and have ridden my bike a bit since that is low impact. Im just whining...I cant wait to load my yak or board on my jeep and hit the water!!!

I understand the frustration you feel...but it won't be long. First two weeks are the hardest. After your first surgery follow-up you will know better when it will be ok to resume normal activity. I was released after two weeks, but to tell you the truth. I did not feel comfortable until about 4 weeks out. But that's just me. Easy does it...you DON'T want to over do it and have to wait even longer.

I feel ya!! I am an active person too!! beside lots of miserable factors I am having right now I feel so bored and can't take it anymore! what I do is watch TV which is boring!, surf the internet which is more boring except for this board and sleep:(

other than that I feel like I miss my band! which is HORRIBLE even after the doctor told me that it did so many scar tissues inside.

I gained weight since my surgery 4 days ago .. they said its Fluid and it will come off quickly .. it didnt come off and I am on that clear fluid!

So count ur blessing .. u are in a better place now. hope it gets better as everyone is saying!

YOU ARE ALMOST THERE! At 4 weeks post op I felt so good I took my kids sledding and I went down the hill. My doctor said that having this surgery is like hitting the "control, alt, delete" button on your body. It's hard for active people like us but it is sure worth it. Keep looking forward to all the things you will be able to do shortly. Love your pics.:)

First of all: Great photos!!

Second: Don't worry, you're just barely out of surgery. The first month is by far the toughest. I dealt with some fatigue for awhile, but now I've got so much energy I don't even know how its possible. You're going to be back in the swing really soon. I hear you, it stinks to have to ask for so much help. I know as far as being a man, my husband always wants to pretend like he's got everything under control - so it goes more the the guys.

Anyway, just keep getting healed and soon you will be back to Beekeeping and surfing. :)

I am also shocked at the fact that I am just know feeling good enough to walk to my daughters school to pick her up in the evening - and I am 6 weeks out!!! I was in good shape before the surgery and now I get winded after blow drying my hair :-)

It does get better!!!! In the meantime, stop shoveling things - you don't want to cause any damage to the incisions on the inside.

Take care--

Lara

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
