How may meals per day

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I have been instructed to eat 6 small meals per day. I notice that the maker of the band states 3 small meals per day with no Snacks in between.

Just curious as to what everyone else is doing, espically those of you who are having great success.

I am very curious about this as well. I tried to do both, 3 meals and the 6 meals I must be doing something wrong because I am not having great success with either. Right now I am trying to just do liquids, not having great success.

My Dr. recommrnfd 3 small meals a day with nutrient dense Protein and Fiber, focusing on natural low fat low sugar foods. Plus 2 Snacks a day high in protein Vitamins and minerals. Meal sizes should be less than one cup of food. Stop as soon as full. Solid foods -only- and never drinking with meals to make sure that food passes through the pouch slower so you feel full and satisfied longer with less hunger. Plus chewable Multi-Vitamin and chewable Calcium. - I'm still on post surgery liquids though, I start mushies tommorow! yay!

6 meals a day doesnt work that great for me, I tend to eat way more overall when I do this. I do better on a 3 meals absolutely no Snacks plan, when I eat 6, I tend to eat 6 meals the same size as I would 3 if you know what I mean.

Its a personal thing, not a hard and fast rule. Go with what works best for you.

With my line of work I am lucky to get in 2 meals a day. After my first adjustment it seemed that my docotr changed his rules about Water. He now wants you to wait 2 hours before and 2 hours after a meal. That is impossible, at least for me. I have a lawn and landscape business in Louisiana and there is no way I am willing to give up water PERIOD! So for Breakfast I do Protein Shake and the same for lunch. For dinner I do a small meal. On the days I have off, which are few and far between this time of the year, I will have a regular breakfast and a regular lunch.

I usually do 3 meals a day and one snack in between lunch and dinner. I can eat like a cup and a half at meals. I know I need a fill but I keep stinkin getting stuck! I get this first bite PB syndrome all the time now. I have no idea what's up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
