What lifes been like 4 days after being banded!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was banded on Friday, and I noticed before my surgery I was searching on LBT for details about just what it was like after, seems you plan for so long and its so consuming just picturing what ife will be like after.

I decided to write a bit about how my expeience has been, hopefully it can help some people that have surgery coming up.

When I got home I was VERY sore, I ended up with 7 incsions, I also had to have my gullbladder removed (lots of gulls stones).:sick

I took my pain meds ever 4 hours then the next day the pain was coming back in like 3 or 2 hours so I called my Dr he said i could take my meds every 2 hours if i needed to (liquid percoset) So I did That helped.

Each day thats went by has been SOO much better. This morning i did take dose but its been 4 hours and i still feel fine.

As far as drinking, I think I have been doing pretty good, I keep the 1 ounce cups next to me all day with a variey of juices, crystal light and propell fitness Water and just plain water. I SIP those all day long. Then 3 times a day I drink 4 Ounces of my Protein Shakes. They are Yummy and I totally look forward to them. I feel really full after drinking them I have 3 flavors, vanilla, choc, butter nut toffee. I make them with a hand blender thing and they are like a slushy.

My Dr says a month of this liquid diet and I really think I can do it. I dont feel hungry...Its Amazing!!!! I have some strange gurgerling noises in my tummy but I dont think they are hunger pains.

I lost 10 ounds in the week B4 sugery on the liquid diet (my Dr makes his pts do this to help shrink the liver fat) It was TORTURE, becasue i was starving. Now since Ive been home from the hosptal Ive lost like 5 more pounds in 4 days. I am in shock!!! WOW!

SO , keep you chins up, it really works, it has for me and Iam just so glad to be at this point im my life!

Ive been pretty much in jammies the whole time and only wore my bra for a couple hours, so dont get me wrong there is alot of pain....Alot, for me any way- but its so worth is and just take the pain meds, sleep as much as you can. My husband did everything for me all weeknd and was soooo awesome, He is the best, my kids have been great too, they are 14 and 9. Im back to work on Thursday!!

Hope this helps some of you! Im so excited for the rest of my journey!;)

Good going Stephanie,

I'm so proud your handling every thing and it sounds like your weight loss is off to a great start. I'll be having mine in less than 2 weeks and this was very insightful for me as I hadn't really heard that much detail about what to expect. Thank you for taking the time to let us newbies know what to expect.

I'll be thinking about you,

Sherri

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
