sleeved tues, I might have a leak?!

Recommended Posts

I had my one month follow-up today and the surgeon said the internal swelling after a surgery like this could last up to 6 weeks. I also had/have some mid-stomach swelling that sometimes causes full liquids/mushies to get hung up. A very distressing feeling of fullness and pressure, but it passes in about an hour. The surgeon also said strictures are much, much less likely in the sleeve compared to the RNY. Whew.

I am trying to be patient, it's really hard. The fact that I can't keep any Protein...shake, unflavored powder, Isopure smoothie or Isopure drink in me...for more than 20 minutes anyway, is freakin me out! If I dehydrate, I'll be back in the hospital. Work, lets not even talk about that, they're gonna be ticked if I'm not back Monday! I'm afrais I'll lose my job! bleep @#*! This has been a really tough week and a half!

Glad to hear your appt went well. :)

Kids05------Since you can't do shakes or anything, just stick with G2 and Smart Water.. they have electrolytes and will keep you from becoming dehydrated.... remember to drink small amounts every 15 mins and you should be fine..... right now we really don't need calories cuz we have enough fat stored up in our bodies... good luck!!! welldoneclap.gif

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
