gotamakeachange 7 Posted April 16, 2011 In the last week I have gained almost 6 pounds and I am trying not to panic. There should be no way that I can gain that much weight with only 15% of my stomach. I do not count calories and I am not going to. My birthday is in two weeks and I wanted to be 170 pounds by my birthday, but I am going in the wrong direction. I am going to cut out all carbs, increase my Water intake, cut out all snacking and hopefully I will be able to lose what is now 10 pounds by April 29. I feel like I am going on a diet and I was hoping when I got this procedure that I would not have to diet anymore, but the reality is that I have a goal to get to and I am going to do everything I can to get to that goal. apple-saucy 17 Posted April 16, 2011 Are you female? :-D I ask because it is possible for your body to hold around 5lbs of Water weight right around when Aunt Flo comes to visit In the last week I have gained almost 6 pounds and I am trying not to panic. gotamakeachange 7 Posted April 16, 2011 Yes I am a woman and of course I have thought of that, but no it is not time for my visit. I am also not ovulating, so I have no idea why I am gaining weight, but I would like for it to leave.

My doctor is pretty adamant about the fact that you do need to count calories, carbs, etc. - we have about 18 months- 2 years window for the most loss and that is the way to maximize the loss. The sleeve is a great tool to help us do that as we should be without the hunger that usually sabotages us, along with the much smaller capacity. But we are still accountable and need to control our food.
Miters36 0 Posted April 16, 2011 I agree with Meggiep. The sleeve is only a tool. We still need to count calories, carbs, Protein, and make sure we exercise. It is imperative we make sure we get enough protein and Water in daily. I know counting calories is tedious but it may really help you figure out why you are gaining weight. I am one month out and have lost 30lb.s. I write down EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth every day and it has been my saving grace. You might be surprised what you find. Anyway, good luck and I hope you start losing again! :-)
purple tulip 2 Posted April 17, 2011 I gained 15-17lbs in Water weight while following all of the rules to a "T" at 2.5 weeks out. I have also lost that same Water weight with a prescribed diuretic in 4 days! We, the Dr. and I really don;t know why my body was choosing to hang onto the water. Our bodies are crazy complex and really it's not always as simple as cals in/cals out. Hang in there and just make sure you know you're doing everything you can, including consulting your Dr/ Dietitians and it will all fall into place In the last week I have gained almost 6 pounds and I am trying not to panic.
