Take vitamins all at once?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering how everyone takes their Vitamins? This morning I sat down with mine and tried to get them in one at a time and I thought I was gonna vom! Is it ok if I space them out throughout the day? Ick!

You are pretty early out, I would not try to take them all at once again. If you can get them in, spread them out for sure! In the beginning, I rarely took my Vitamins because they made me so sick. I had a chewable Multi-Vitamin which I tried to take twice a day, but even that sometimes made me sick. Now I am almost 5 months out and I can take 5-6 pills at once (I swallow them in groups of 2 or so at a time). I have to make sure that I have eaten though, or I feel like I am going to throw up. It will get easier!!

Since you're still pretty early out, I'd definitely space them out!

I had to do that in the beginning.

I think it's actually better for absorbing them if you take them two times a day. My nutritionist has me taking mine with 2 separate meals. I take mine with Breakfast and lunch, usually.

Spacing them out is better for absorbing them. Your Calcium try to get it in doses of 500mg and just an FYI Iron and Calcium do not play well with each other. They need to be taken a couple hours apart. Check your multi and see if it has Iron in it. If so space out your multi and your calcium and take your calcium twice a day or if you need more split it into 500 mg doses.

I have not had surgery yet, but they recommend you take one mont prior. I take multi and Calcium chew in a.m.

Iron chew at lunch, multi and calcium chew after work or with dinner.< /p>

i also do a sublingual b-12 twice a week, Vitamin C daily, and fish oil daily.

i agree, the chewable multi are so nasty. i have the orange ones from Bariatric Advantage and they taste horrible!

How Many Vitamins did you take everyday? I know the maximum no. of vitamins everyday is 3-4. What are these vitamins? In my case before, the doctor just prescribed me two supplements/vitamins. One is Multivitamin and One for Vitamin D. I don't have any serious condition, just to make sure that my health is secured from illnesses. In your case, why do you take vitamins? For what?

By the way guys, do you know a best brand supplement for stress? My co-office mates suggested me the MX Stress Protect but i have no idea at all what this supplement is.

Do you know this product? Thanks!

indigo07, I've just visited their website a while ago. According to the Maxalife, it's uniquely formulated to provide you with the most stress relief and management available through natural supplementation. Some of the benefits you can gain through taking that supplement are immune support, more energy, better mood, stress management and many more. I think it's their one of the top seller supplements. Just check their site. With regards on taking Vitamins concerning ms. bugirl, I'm taking 2 supplements. One MX Omega 3 fish oil supplement and one MX multivitamins.2 supplement is enough as what the doctor told me.

Never heard this before and I'm sure I've done this many times. I thought that if you were taking calcium

citrate it didn't matter, that the acid was necessary for calcium carbonate.

Would like to know the reason for this and if others have been told this rule. As I said, I know I've been breaking it a lot

so if it's true, very glad to know now rather than 5 years from now!

I take my Nexium when i get up around 5am. then, one multi Centrum, Vitamin C, and my b-12 around 8-9 a.m with bfast then 2 hours later take 2 b.a. calcium chews. i then have another b.a. 2 Calcium with lunch around 1 pm. A couple times a week I throw a couple d-3's in there for good measure.

i take an Iron supplement at night, but already have taken all my calcium for the day,so i don't need to wait.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
