I have a question. It is a silly one, but I really want to know.

Did they put massagers on your legs after your surgery? I am really curious. Cause i love the idea of getting massaged after surgery. LOL I know I might need them because of my history with blood clots, but I love how they feel. I was actually thinking of buying my own. But if he uses them anyway I won't shell out the cash.

Thanks!!! My surgery is on the 10th of July. Its getting close and I am so excited!!!

I don't know Dr. Sanchez but the answer should be "yes". They put on the air compressed socks so your circulation can keep going in your legs. Mine was an overnight stay but if you are outpatient I think they do that while you are recovering..but not sure.

Not all places do it. That is why I was asking for Dr. Sanchez patients in particular. I know that it is a good idea. Didn't you love the way it felt? Its like getting a massage while you recover!! ;)

Both times when I was at the Santa Engracia Hospital, which is pretty state of the art, they only wraped my legs with large ace type rolls.

Now I've had those legs compressing "hose" that inflate/pump air every so many seconds (don't know if that's the same thing) but not with Dr. Sanchez's crew.

I guess I missed something, I thought you were getting a TT/lift first than banded in a few months? Will you be getting this all done within a week or something?

I didn't get pressure stockings, but they did wrap my calfs with ace type bandages...I guess that's the same thing?

Vera, Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Cardenas felt that my history of blood clots were too risky for the TT so I am getting banded 3 or 4 months earlier than anticipated!! Cool huh? My surgery date is on the 10th! I am so excited. And thank you guys for answering my question. Good to know something is done for this risk after surgery.

I understand the compression hose are standard operating procedure, but I wasn't aware of having them. I guess where I was they put them on and take them off all while the patient is knocked out.

Can't miss what I didn't know I had!

I had the compression bandages (ace), not the type you mean! The had them off anyway within 2 hours of surgery, once I was up walking around.

I don't know if they use them, but the name of the device you're talking about is sequential compression devices (SCD's)

I am not Dr Sanchez patient but, I had the compression cuffs put on my legs the entire time I was in the hospital, my insurance paid for me to stay overnight and I did, and they were awesome! I loved the way they messaged my legs. I have not any blood clots but my mom had a history of them and passed away, so I guess I was a higher risk of developing clots, but I had a very smooth recovery and it has been smooth sailing with my band also so far....

Good Luck!

I had them for at least 3 or 4 days, but then I think it was because I was totally imobile for that long. I think they are pretty standard to prevent clots while in bed recovering. I had complications (internal bleeding) and had a 6 day hospital stay when I was hoping for just a day or two.... Getting stronger everyday and not sorry I did it.
