Candace2314 117 Posted April 14, 2011 So, Today is my first day back at work... alot of people are looking at me like hey I thought you had weightloss surgery??? It's very comical. I personally am enjoying the looks. I think it's funny that they thought I would loose like a billion pounds in a week and 4 days. I can't wait to go home either because the pain that I had avoided all this week has returned! Like sitting here at this desk is so painful, I can't wait to take my meds and sleep. Noon can't get here fast enough!!! How are you guys doing today? Feeling good? Candace P.S. I wanna go shopping....
StacyS 20 Posted April 14, 2011 I'm sorry you're not feeling well. At least you get to go home at noon and get some rest! That's only a few hours away!! Yay!! You only took a week off and you're feeling pain sitting at the computer? I'm not sleeved yet and was also planning on taking a week and a couple days off but if you think you should've taken longer off, then maybe I should take a full 2 weeks? kellyw74 258 Posted April 14, 2011 That is my biggest fear!! I am only taking a week off work and am so worried that I will not be healed and ready to go back! I read lots of people are and can and so many take like a month off and still feel bad. I have a desk job too and deal with pain really well. I would like to know if there is a "SECRET" to people healing faster. Is it the walking, Vitamins, and Protein? ?? I plan on following those guidelines to a "T" and hopeully, I will be in good shape after my week. Best of luck to you!! Kelly
Candace2314 117 Posted April 14, 2011 Its weird because my pain has been minimal up until now. Like on a scale from 1 to 10 my pain level was a 1 for the most part since I left the hospital, but sitting here at work.... I don't know if it's the chair I am in or what but my tummy muscles hurt really bad. Then it doesnt help that I'm dealing with gas. Why me??? lol. My pain level is about a 5 or 6 give or take. It's manageable. When I feel like I want to scream, I get up and walk around, or pretend like I'm walking to the bathroom which seems to help. I have my Protein, my Water and everything but I am still experiencing pain, I really think it's the incisions area on the left thats causing all this pain. That is going to be your problem area if you are having pain.
samantha209 19 Posted April 14, 2011 reading what others have said I expected my pain to be less...but my back hurts, and my stomach muscles are sore...i was bigger so that may be it....or it could be because they simultaneously repaired a hernia. i am not dying but i am uncomfortable. the gas is/was the worst as well. But a heating pad and walking and tea is helping 3 days out and I cant bend over...
Candace2314 117 Posted April 14, 2011 I think it may be your hernia Samantha. What are you taking for the gas?
mini-gil 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Get used to the staring...especially when you begin to drop all the weight... : ) people will not stop commenting and looking at you everyday. Unfortunately, sometimes people also want to see you fail so I like to make sure that people see me happy and healthy with my surgery even if I desperately want to go home and nap.....it just gives them less to talk about. God forgive you look a bit pale or sneeze, then everyone will say "that surgery has you weak...bla, bla, bla" ....Funny thing is that everyone in my office has gotten a cold or stomach virus in the last 6 months except for ME so I guess the surgery is not making me so weak after all : ) Show LOVE for your Sleeve and your decision, everyone around you will eventually love it ( want it) too!!!!!! Best of luck! Hang in there, it gets easier with time. Mini-Gil So, Today is my first day back at work... alot of people are looking at me like hey I thought you had weightloss surgery??? mini-gil 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Have you tried Ggas x strips? They helped me and my doctor said it was ok to use them. You can find them in CVSor Walgreens.
MINI-Me 196 Posted April 14, 2011 ... I think it's funny that they thought I would loose like a billion pounds in a week and 4 days. LOL - Sounds like my experience with my youngest son. I had gone out of town to have my surgery. He was not home when I got there, but came running up the stairs the moment his grandparents dropped him off. He stopped dead in his tracks and said "I thought you were coming home skinny???". Out of the mouths of babes! Feel better soon!
Griselda 7 Posted April 15, 2011 Mini, that reminds me of my son. He is seven, he was looking at our little rat terrier dog and saying to her that he thought she was getting a little fat and that he was going to send her 'to Mexico to get skinny like mama" (I haven't gone yet, LOL) LOL - Sounds like my experience with my youngest son.
