LOTS of luck to you!!!

I am suppposed to be getting surgery June 1st but insurance needs my psych eval which is tomorrow. Psych said she would have report sent to my doc Wed. morning so they can send to the insurance.

I am praying all goes through.

Good luck and keep posting!

:)

Ok guys, I just had to post. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping against hope that I'm a June sleever! I should finish my 6th fat camp visit on June 13th and the insurance girl at my surgeon's office (who is A.Ma.Zing.) said she should be able to get my stuff in to the insurance that day. She says she's received approvals from my insurance in as little as 24 hours and has all of my stuff ready for both insurance and scheduling of surgery. I may not make it in June but I'm cautiously optimistic that at least by the first of July I will be starting my new journey. Anyone else thinking about June? My doc does surgery on Wednesday and Friday so I'm looking at the 22nd (a REAL long shot), 24th or 29th.

Insurance: Highmark WV (formerly known as Mountain State Blue Cross Blue Shield)

Surgeon: Dr. Blaine Brace

Btw, did I mention? YAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Special K Protein Water is my highlight LOL no Protein shake taste and kind of sweet.

Some days I am wigging out, some days (like today) I am beaming with excitement!!!

At least we all have each other to lean on!!

I told my DH he should get me charm (or necklace) with a nice jewel on it - my surgery gift and Jewel of June award!!

Hello all my fellow Jewels,

I am scheduled for June13th. I am wondering if I am the only one, but ALL of my excitement and positive attitude has turned to shear FEAR. My sleeping has been inturrupted and every extra minute is used thinking of all the bad things that can happen. I end up having this feeling of anxiety and got a little teary eyed when a fellow co worker offered support . I am the mother of 3 children and the thought of something happening to me scares me to death!. Please send some prayers for me that I find peace with my decision.... or a couple of valiums would do great also :P ! Hope everyone is doing well!

I know desperation! I got sooo sick of "sweet" that I put a scoop of unflavored Protein into a cup of expresso strenth coffee, added at dallob of half and half and had AMBROSIA (any other time I would not even think of spoiling my coffee in such a manner). For lunch oooohhh hummmm, it's back to a Protein shake.:bored:

BY THE WAY!!!!! I JUST RECEIVED FINAL APPROVAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I was going forward with the pre-op diet on my surgeon's say so. He said that he would find a way to get my surgery done one June 6th, and he didn't even have to resort to "calling Cousin Guido"!!! I sure do fee a whole bunch better!!!

I guess we "Jewels of June" are "diamond hard" when it comes to determination!!!

:grouphug:

Look out world, The Jewels of June are heading your way!!!!:car:

Melissa, I understand and I'm scared too. Change is very scary. VSG is a very big deal! Hey, even my PCP just kept saying to me -- "A gastrectomy?" Very drastic measure of course. But I asked myself this question -- "realistically what are my chances of losing 100 lbs plus if I don't do this?"

At this age (56!!!) I'm faced with the reality that my obesity is ruining my quality of life. Yes, I have hypertension, high cholesterol and borderline diabetes...but for me the clincher is fear I won't be mobile! My joints are NOT HAPPY! I never thought I would get so heavy that I have to avoid visiting people and places because there a physical obstacles I can't navigate anymore. And maybe it takes doing something this drastic -- permanently altering my stomach to commit to change. I know VSG is a tool...I will have to work hard to learn new eating behaviors and because so much is at stake -- my health, my longevity, my life -- I will be successful. I want it to register in my brain when my crazy emotional & recreational eating urges are gnawing at me -- "Hey this isn't about "being on a diet" -- and remember how "desperately" I chose to save my life.

So -- yes, I am scared (of surgery, pain, complications and mostly of FAILURE) but I'm going to feel the fear and do this anyway.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
