1 week out tomorrow...too much fluid at once? Oh and HI everyone!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be one week out. I a doing 1 week clear, 1 week full fluids, 1 week puree, then soft...

My concern is I have been sipping sipping sipping. Today I got a medium wawa chicken noodle. They just gave me broth. I ate the whole thing in like 10-15 minutes. I measured it to be around 8-9 oz. Should that have gone in so easily? I didnt feel like I was overful or anything. No issues at all. Does Fluid just go in easy after a week? I guess im concerned with the amount. Seems too much to me but again...no discomfort at all.

At 5:30 I had 6 oz of broth and 2 popsickles that are 20z each then 4 oz of protien drink. I did feel full but no discomfortAll within an hour? Do I just have a bigger stomach or do fluids go right through? Tanks!

OH BTW!! HI!!! LOL. Been reading, I had a band to sleeve revision. Had band in July 2008 and lost 115 pounds roughly. Went from 350 to 235. Gained and lost a bit here and there with band the last year amd was hovering around 245-250. Decided to get sleeve. Lots of reasons....hated band. February 2011 band came off but because of scar tissue was not sleeved. Sleeved last Thursday at 260lbs. Down to 250.

Welcome Hip! fluids just go in and the out of your stomach a lot faster than any mushy or solid would. The stomach is for breaking down food and well Water or fluids do not need to be broken down. You may also be recovering quicker than others with yoru sleeve swelling going down fast. I too was a fast recovery. I found that I had no problem getting in 64 oz of Fluid in a day. Heck I could drink 1 cup (8oz ) of broth in a short period of time maybe 10 mins or less.I learned that it is best if you take small sips and take your time even though you feel you can drink faster. It is better for you in the long run to learn to slow down.

Congratulations on your progress so far.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
