Guest harrison1116 Posted August 2, 2003 Hey all ! I'm from Vicksburg, MS and am having lap band surgery by Dr. Hadar Spivak in Houston, TX, on Wednesday, 6 Aug 03. Of course, I have been on this computer day and night for several months researching the procedure. I've learned alot for sure, but need more - there's always more to learn. I have a question: The first week or 2 after surgery, what can I expect to be able to eat and drink (I mean quantities). Should I expect to be able to consume the recommended 60 grams of Protein and 72 oz of Water daily, or does it increase day to day? I have the list of liquids and soft foods for the first week or two post-op, but I'm unsure if I should be concerned of the quantity I should be concerned about. Thanks. tangerine 44 Posted August 2, 2003 Hi Carolyn! Welcome to LapBandTalk! In answer to your question, this will vary from person to person and will also vary according to what the liquid is. Since this time is about healing, do what feels right. Listen to your body and you'll know what's best for you. You can try to get the 60 grams of Protein in, but I wouldn't obssess about it. Thinned and pureed bean Soups are a great way to get Protein and Fiber in while you're healing. Do try to drink as much Fluid as possible though, you don't want to dehydrate. Good Luck!
