apple-saucy 17 Posted April 13, 2011 Hey ya'll so my Surgery is scheduled for a week from Friday (April 22nd) I did some shopping over the weekend and wondered if I had forgotten anything important (started my liquid diet today...I think I've already peed my body weight in ounces at least!) I'll be on full liquids for the next 10 days pre-surg then 2wks after as well. It looks like A LOT of stuff I'm hoping that it will last 3wks so I don't have to go out shopping or send my husband out with 4 kids in tow. Anything extra will of course be used still once I get to the pureed stage :-D So I picked up 2 boxes of sugar free freezer pops (50 pops in all) 50 cans of Ready to Drink "Diet Shakes" (a mix of flavors) 1 small canister of powdered Protein (chocolate flavor) 1 Large canister unflavored Protein powder (to add to Soups and drinks) about 3 dozen cans and boxes of various Soups and broths 2 bottles of V8 Flavored Diet Water bottles (2 boxes not sure the count) Is there anything else that I should have on hand for the first 2-3 weeks post surgery? Foxbins 625 Posted April 13, 2011 Your post-op pantry looks like mine did before surgery. However, what I bought and what I used were two very different things. I initially could not tolerate cold food, so no popsicles for me until about week 4. I could not drink the Protein shakes initially, I had a hard enough time getting in 32 oz of Water. When I could tolerate the Protein, I found that I disliked the ones made with Water. I did drink diluted grape juice at room temperature for a week or so. I couldn't have Soups per my plan until after a month. I have eaten my popsicles since and given away the protein that I did not like and now I drink costco Pure Protein RTD shakes.< /p> You are certainly prepared but if you cannot drink much of anything but water post-op don't worry. Just keep drinking so that you don't get dehydrated. Best of luck to you!
