KabinKitty 11 Posted April 10, 2011 It's so bad I really don't want to sit with my husband while he eats. I think he's eating like he always has, but maybe I'm just noticing it more now. I have no appetite and can only fit a little in before feeling uncomfortable. So I've tried to really take my time and make my tiny portion last as long as possible. It's to the point where my food is stone cold, I'm full, and he is still shoveling it in. I try and try to make conversation, but it does not slow him down at all. I'm starting to almost get nauseated watching him shovel all that food down his throat. Even the sound of his eating is making me want to hurl. I don't want to feel this way, but it's getting worse and I don't know what to do other than just leaving the table. It happens at restaurants also. I feel like this is my problem and not his...he didn't sign up for this! I am starting to really dread meal times! Am I the only one who feels this way? feedyoureye 3,087 Posted April 10, 2011 I think my husband is working overtime to eat all the food I am no longer eating. Im sure he is putting on weight, and my grocery bill is going up. I think some of this is true, and some is me being sensitive to how much it looks like people are eating now. It kind of grosses me out at times, but like you say, I am the one who signed on to this! Perhaps you can read the paper or something to keep your attention off the husband while eating, or set him up with a first course before you come to the table....give him a 5 minute head start before you sit down? Does he know how you feel?
KabinKitty 11 Posted April 15, 2011 Oh my no, it would hurt his feelings if he knew how it makes me feel. The other night he was eating chicken off the bone and I think that was the worst. Some nights it's better than others. I'm trying to just talk and talk to get my mind off of it. This way of eating is taking alot of getting use to. I know how others have suggested to play with your food and shove it around alot, but I can only shove it so far...lol. Hubby is so supportive and understanding. He suggests things to try and help me get more food in, but nothing has helped. Getting in some B12 and some D-3 has helped alot in my energy level. Thanks for your response...I see you were the only one who related to my delima. Bless you!

Infernored 5 Posted April 15, 2011 I have the opposite problem! My hubby comes home from his office and sits with me and I keep begging him to make something to eat and he won't. I am still on the full liquids post surgery and I have no appetite. I try to tell him that I'm not even jealous that he's eating and I'm not. LOL It will work out eventually! Cmsumom 5 Posted April 20, 2011 I so know this - My husband and my son (who is only 10) both have no issues with weight- and eat like there is no tomorrow- it makes me sick to watch them to- and I am not even sleeved yet! I went thru a time when I was starving myself in college- and I remember when people were eating around me- it made me gag- it was like they would just be eating mashed potatoes and I would see them and it was like they were eating pure fat- I feel your pain- you could try telling him to just slow it down a bit- maybe that would help- I am sure if he loves ya- he would at least do that- and it would be better for him to ..
