Before I start the post, be advised that I am fully aware that I could be worried over nothing. I need your help judging that! :)

I have been ghosting this site forever and started fully participating after my surgery March 1st. What I am noticing is that I have almost none of the difficulties others describe. More than that, I can often eat much more than what others post without discomfort. For example, this morning I had two eggs soft scrambled and that was perfect. I read about so many people who can barely eat one at this point in the recovery. I haven't had problems with any of the foods I have tried either. I mean NONE. I must have a teflon sleeve.

Anyway, this is all well and good but I am "borrowing trouble" (as my Granny says) and worried about the future. If I am this okay with all foods and seem able to eat more now at 5 weeks then what will things be like at one year or two? Side note: I haven't botherer to ask my surgeon about bougie size since I didn't learn about this until after surgery and it seems pointless now.

I should also mention that I am down 42 pounds since the surgery less than six weeks ago. I am soooo not complaining and extremely thankful for the awesome weightloss and what I am eating since it seems to work right now but I am also worried about the future. I think the fat girl in me is convinced that if this can be screwed up I will figure it out. I want to make sure this weightloss is for keeps. I am tired of giving away all the fat clothes and then getting fat all over again. Frankly, I am not sure I can mentally handle that happening again.

Thoughts on all this rambling?

Your swelling might have just subsided faster than others. It's not as uncommon to not have issues with foods early out. There's lots of people out there that don't have issues. eggs are pretty mushy especially if you chew them up really well. The only thing I can comment on is that you're restriction is there if 2 eggs filled you and gave you satiety. Think pre-op, when we'd eat 3 eggs, 3-4 slices of bacon or sausage patties/links, biscuits with gravy, and glasses of whatever beverage we wanted. So, 2 eggs may seem like a lot in comparison to others on here, but your sleeve sounds perfect for you.

It's okay to be obsessive, at least in my mind it is LOL. I was obsessive about portions, measuring, tracking intake just because I wanted this to work so badly. You're doing great, and many congrats on your weight loss thus far. Just keep plugging away. There is a max capacity to sleeve size. There just isn't enough left to stretch out to pre-op size. Bougie size is just a tiny part of the equation in final sleeve capacity. I can eat more than some that had bigger bougies so it really depends on surgical technique, our own anatomy, and how fast, how much we chew, our own eating habits post-op and especially in the long term. I have the capacity I had at this time last year, but I've found ways to cheat the sleeve and Yep, I use those strategies to eat more, but only because I'm in maintenance and it's how I want to live my life post WLS. I'm not shoveling cake and bons bons in, but if I want to have a couple more ounces of veggies, or have some more food at a meal, I'll stretch out my meal, chew things to mushy consistency again, and mix my Protein with starches which allows me to eat a couple more ounces per meal. I, still to this very day, can not eat an entire chicken breast in the prescribed 20 minute meal time so my restriction is still there at 22 months out.

The proof is in the pudding. You have lost 42 lbs in 6 weeks. It looks like your body and sleeve are in tune as one. I think (just guessing) that your stomachs swelling reduced quickly. I have heard that it has to do with the length of your sleeve, and how it is situated in your abdomen as well. I say keep up the good work and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

I agree with the others, sounds like you are doing really well and your recovery has been good... to me that is just a bonus. The fact that you can eat your perscribed foods with ease is also a bonus as you are getting a good range of nutrition... and 42lb is bloody amazing too!!

Sounds to me like your eggs are the sunny side up... keep up the good work!! =]

I too had zero issues and was up ad going by the 5th day and at 12 months out it has been an amazing ride. You are losing so you know the sleeve is working. I can eat more now but I try not to, I eat until I'm satisfied then have a snak. Don't worry...you are obiviously following the plan or you wouldnt have the amazing weight loss. I will never be like the forum posters that have to eat to keep from losing too much but it's ok I'm happy, healthier and it keeps me on my toes :) You are doing great!!!!!

Thank you all for the responses and encouragement. It's conversations like these that make this site so important to me. I can't talk to anyone I know about this because, frankly, they have no idea what I am talking about!

I struggled first with the fear that I would be the one person in the world that this surgery wouldn't work for which the 42 lbs proved false, now I struggle with the fears that something will make me fail long term. I am trying to think long range about everything involved with this procedure. Thanks again for reponses!

You're doing great! If you stick with Protein first and veggies with whatever room you have left, you'll be at goal in no time!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
