sarahh1828 4 Posted April 9, 2011 I miss strawberries, the smell of them makes my mouth Water. How soon after the sleeve can I eat one? I usually eat them mushed up with a teaspoon of splenda (or frozen). I was planning on eating them when I get to mushie stage, but don't know if that's a good idea. Thanks for your input. BlackBerryJuice 349 Posted April 9, 2011 I don't know what the official guideline is, but I personally avoided things with a lot of tiny seeds (e.g. strawberries and raspberries) in the first 3 months. I just didn't want some tiny seed to get stuck in a healing scar and then cause an abscess.
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted April 9, 2011 BBJuice is right. Those tiny seeds could easily get caught in your staple line. I would say 3 months but you should ask your surgeons office.

Just asking...what if she threw them in a VitaMix? I have one and when I puree fresh berries I don't seem to have anything resembling seeds. Doesn't mean they aren't there in a size sufficient to cause problems though! Glad you asked the question Sarah because I think I would have gone ahead and pureed them without thinking but now I will ask my doc when I can add them.
