Do you have a reward for yourself when you hit goal?

Recommended Posts

This is funny, I was just babbling about my rewards in my journal. When I got my band I set several mini-goals for myself. I've achieved the first three so far.

-30 lbs. (250) I bought an ipod.

-50 lbs. (230) A Van Gogh print - Irises.

-75 lbs. (205) Another Van Gogh print - Almond Blossoms.

-100 lbs. (180) I'm going to go horseback riding.

-125 lbs. (155) I'm going to an amusement park and ride roller coasters.

-140 lbs. (140 goal) I'm going to take a "discovery flight" at a flight school.

For a while now, I've really wanted to get another tatoo, and I've been thinking that when I reach my goal I would get a new tatoo. Then I would never forget how far I've come, and how hard I've worked to get where I am.

I also like the idea one of you had about a promise ring, something I would wear all the time, to remind me of what I've accomplished.

I am newly banded and a LONG way from my goal, but my husband and parents are each pledging me $5 for every pound I lose, so that when I reach my goal, I can reward myself and go on a shopping spree! What motivation! I have a really pretty jar that we put in the kitchen, and each month we will put the cold hard cash in the jar for ME! This helps in the replacement cost of all the new clothes I will need!

I Love The Idea Of Putting Money In A Jar For Every Pound And For Working Out. I Won't Be At My Goal By July, I Hope To Be Down A Total Of 90 Lbs, For We Are Having A Family Reunion And I Want To Surprise All My Family Who Seen Me Last Yr Still Big. Then, When I Do Get To My Goal I Want To Take Atrip. Maybe Two, One With My Grandchildren To Walt Disney World So We Can Walk All Over And I Will Feel Geat! Then A Cruise Somewhere. Sure Makes A Person Feel Great Just Thinking About It.

When I hit 60lbs I bought myself a 30 gig IPOD. I figured since I spend so much time at the gym the IPOD was well worth the investment.

I'm looking foward to meeting my goal of 120 - 150lbs lost, who knows how I'll reward myself then. I'm sure I'll come up w/ something. I think the $ jar is an excellent idea. I'm going to start mine today.

I want to ride a horse!! I've never ridden a horse for fear of hurting the horse, but its something I have always wanted to do...and I will someday!!

As a defense mechanism, I always tell people I'm to scared...but thats not the case at all...*heavy sigh*

I plan on going on a week long hiking trip all by my lonesome, with one of my dogs. I may go to Arkansas or even North Carolina. Another goal is to finish a triathlon when getting close to goal. My other half is already going to give me $500 for clothes, so I'm treating myself to something I could never do before the lap band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
