My wife and I went to a WLS Seminar last night. The doctor and the insurance manager both said that we were some of the most informed patients they have had at a seminar. We were able to ask and get answers to many questions that have been inspired by the concerns and experiences from the good folks on this site. Thank you for being so open in your comments and topics. We are much more comfortable moving forward than we would have been with out you.

YOU ROCK!!! :clap2: :hurray:

We will be going with Dr Oldham. Dr Oflaska only does the band. we are both going with the sleeve. there was a lady there that had a band and was going to have a revision to the sleeve.

Yeah there was a lady in my seminar that needed the Band to Sleeve revision too... Just made me realize the Band is not for me :) Are you guys going to have one get the surgery than the other or try to do it at the same time? Who will take care of you if you are both having post op pains?!?

Dr Oldham is super. He answered all my questions and the staff is great!! BTW I got approved YAY YAY doing the happy dance. It took 4 whole days but I just found out today. Good luck and keep us updated!

awsome...Congrats.

we are going to do the one at a time. she wanted to go first but I got my intake appointment first, so we will see. she put her packet in last night. I sent mine in by email and got a call for the intake the next day. she hasn't heard from them today so I guess email is faster when it is the only one they get. They probably got 7 or 8 last night.

yeah like I said above, Dr Oldham really made her feel more comfortable with the sleeve. We talk to Catherine, the insurance manager, and she said she would recommend the sleeve for both of us. she wasn't a big fan of the band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
