So tired of cold food...

Recommended Posts

Don't get me wrong, I love my sleeve, but I haven't had an entire hot meal since January 12. I cook my Protein, put it on the plate, sit down, take a little bite, chew, chew, chew, put down the fork, wait a minute, take another bite, and repeat the process. By about bite 3 the food is cooling and by bite 6 it's cold. If I eat too fast I get the foamies so I eat slowly. I have tried warming in the microwave but that just seems to dry the food out and overcook it. I have tried to get used to cold meals like shrimp and chicken salad, but sometimes I want to eat something piping hot. I think that's why I enjoy my morning coffee so much, it's HOT.

Anyone else feel this way or have suggestions?

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!!!

The child plate idea is good, I personally eat most of my stuff out of a coffee mug, and while I can eat fast enough now to not need it - I would imagine one of those coffee mug warmers would help keep it toasty.

I eat most of my food from baby bowls. I use the ones that you can put the hot Water in. It keeps everything warm for you, and helps control portion size.

I don't like my food cold either....we've always warmed our plates under hot Water or put them in the microwave before we put our food on them. That helps some....I do NOT eat as slowly as I did in the beginning. I finish first most of the time, but my food stays warm! Someone said to sprinkle with Water to reheat, that does help.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
