Hi, can't answer your question cuz I'm pre-op but I wanted to say congrats and good luck for an easy and speedy recovery!

I took 3 weeks off total. One week for the surgery down in Mexico(4 days) and 2 weeks at home recuperating. My first day back to work was somewhat tiring but by the 2nd-3rd day I ws feeling pretty normal. I'm a Health unti coordinator and CNA2 at a hospital and my job can be strenuous. But I personally did well. 3 weeks was good for me. good luck!

I had my surgery March 15th and went back to work March 20th. I am a nurse but do mostly desk work. I was tired but I worked through it and napped when I got home.

I had my surgery 3/16 and orginally took off 3 weeks. I extended it another week since I was so tired and still had to go to many doctor appts. post-op due to issues in the hospital. However, I just got passed 3 weeks and I feel great right now and think I could go back next week. I think 3 weeks is a perfect amount of time to recover. Now will I still stay home an extra week? Yeah-I think so. :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
