heathery 0 Posted April 7, 2011 Hi! I'm new here and I'm starving! I'm having the sleeve surgery on 4/18/11 amd I've been on the presurgery diet for 1 1/2 weeks. I am so lethargic and just want to sleep. I'm drinking the Protein Shakes but they go right through me, and I've tried so many of them. They all seem to have the same effect. My doctor told me to just keep drinking them and keep trying! I'm not stopping, and I know it's all worth it. I haven't read much about people being so hungry at this stage, though. Anyone experience that? I can't wait for the surgery!

Anyone experience that? I can't wait for the surgery! I'm right there with you - my surgery is 4/18 and I'm on the liquid diet too. I find the more I drink, the less hungry I feel. Not totally un-hungry (is that a word?) mind you - just much less hungry. You know it's bad when you're soooooo grateful for Calcium chewy bites just to have something to gnaw on! My doctor's office considers yogurt a liquid - if you can have it, a probiotic yogurt a day before surgery and as soon as you can after is supposed to decrease your chances of getting thrush, at least according to my surgeon. Good luck!
sarahh1828 4 Posted April 7, 2011 I'm right there with you. Day 7 of a 14 day diet. I've found that the more Protein I get, the better I feel. I've been buying the Isopure clear zero carb drinks(40g protein), and drinking 1/2 in the morning, and 1/2 in the evening. That makes me feel alot better. I'm so hungry when my husband made a veggie sandwich I was drooling, and he put cucumbers on it(HATE cucumbers)!! I must say though, Day 7 is definately better than day 3. Day 3 I was waking up in the middle of the night from hunger pains. Good Luck!! We can all do this!!
lil red raider 5 Posted April 7, 2011 sugar free popsicles were a saving grace for me on my liquid diet. Gives you something to chew and something sweet.
Candace2314 117 Posted April 8, 2011 I had surgery on Monday and my last day of the liquid diet was on Sunday, by Sunday I had kinda grown use to it but it was horrible. I felt so deprived of energy and all the above, those Protein Shakes are torture! My surgery went great but I've been extremely nauseous, my blood pressure was high (so I had to stay in the hospital longer) and now I feel like I could go without eating, I'm in love with sonic ice, sugar free popsicles and apple juice. Take care and I hope you guys have a great surgery experience
