Hi Everybody,

I'm relatively new here, I was sleeved 6 weeks ago and since I've lost 27 lbs and an additional 10 before surgery! I know 37lb is a lot and something to be proud of but I find myself getting down a lot about not loosing more quickly. I have about 130 lbs to loose to make it to goal, which seems huge! I guess I get upset because I see a lot of other people that have similar goals where the weight is just flying off of them. I get jealous of the people that loose 100lbs in 4 months and wonder why I can't be one of them. I feel like I'm doing everything right, high Protein, low carb, lots of Water. I guess I just get panicked because I feel like I'm loosing too slowly and then I start to wonder if I'll ever make goal. Sorry to sound so negative, its just I want this so bad and it scares me that I went through all this and it might not work.

Thanks,

Suz

Hey Suz,

I am hearing you loud and clear. I feel the same way. If I had been a fast loser I would be a goal now,.. not sure if this will make you feel better,, but I haven't lost a pound since the end of Jan!!!

All I can say, is that we must stay posiive, relish every ounce that we are lighter and healthier and try to see the bigger picture. This, for me, has to be a life long journey... that is why I took the drastic decision and had the surgery!

One day, we will get there and it is gonna be soooooo sweet!!

Chin up and shout me if I can help in any way =]

You ARE doing great! You are headed in the right direction and succeeding at this by anyones definition of success. You are far closer to your goal than I am.

You WILL do it!

Think of all your NSV(non scale victories), make a list to refer and add to when the scale just won't budge or the number just won't drop fast enough. How much better do you feel? Has your mobility improved greatly? How many size pants have you dropped? How many inches have you lost? Your health has already improved a lot!! Have you been able to stop taking any meds? (diabetes, blood pressure). You're doing great and it's only gonna get better! Celebrate it all, not just #'s on a scale.

I am right there with you. I feel like a losers loser. A lot of people who are aproaching 4 months like me have lost 70, 80, 90, pounds, and here I am still in the 50's. I beat myself up every day. Today I went to the nutritionist and she made me feel so much better. I struggle with snacking and grazing, and she gave me a lot of good tips. She also said that I AM DOING GREAT, and just hearing her say that and really seemed sincere about it made me feel a TON better. I know it will come, and I am one of the slow ones, but heck I have never lost this much weight before in my life. Stay doing what you are doing and it will come, that;s what everyone says. I have 199 pounds to go yet so I have a LONG struggle ahead of me.

YOU CAN DO IT SISTER. (and so can I)

Lisa

When was the last time you lost 27 lbs in 6 weeks and will be able to keep it off? Look at it as the glass is half full! You will get to goal at some point in time. Try not to over think how you are doing. You are doing great!!!

Hey Suz,

We are in the same boat. Like you I have about 130 pounds to lose. I had surgery 6 weeks ago. And I've lost 'only' roughly 40 pounds. When I went to my doctor two weeks ago, I asked why I wasn't losing 30 pounds a month like EVERYONE else. I was told that the weightloss rate depends a lot on how much you have to lose (if you have 300 pounds to lose, you will lose more quickly than if you have 150 to lose), what you are eating (people who struggle with the eating and drinking in the beginning lose weight a lot quicker, but this is not doctor recommended!), and what your gender is (yes, men do lose more quickly). At this point, my doctor says I shouldn't even be worried about how much I've lost. I'm still healing and am only cleared to do certain exercises. I still get frustrated... the scale hasn't moved in days! But, just remember, if you lose 10 pounds a month, by the end of the year you will be at goal! That's freakin' amazing! If you ever need to talk, feel free to send me a message. I'm at the same stage as you and going through a lot of the same frustrations.

THANK YOU for revealing what this acronym means... I was using context clues but still couldn't get it. I was guessing "New Sleeve Victories" but didn't think it sounded right. :P

You are doing wonderfully, everyone loses at a different rate, and everyone has a stall here and there....

I do lose 100 quickly but then over the next 7 weeks I lost nothing....

Slow and steady wins the race

I actually know someone who had a bypass and lost so fast that it really messed them up...

Follow your doctors plans and you'll get there

I had plication surgery 4 weeks ago. I lost 3 pounds pre-surgery, 6 pounds the first week of surgery and 2 pounds the second week. I have not lost an ounce since then and I've been militant about my diet and exercising 6x a week. I know that I need to take my lower starting BMI into consideration and the fact that my clothes are fitting much more loosley but really, a stall after week 2? I'm not sure what I can do differently. The doctors office hasn't followed up in over 3 weeks. Any suggestions?

I am also six weeks out and have lost 25-27 lb (I'm weighing in kg and I'm lazy about converting it lol), but I am WELL HAPPY about it. It never occurred to me that I am a slow loser, I feel like an awesome loser. Seriously. I haven't lost an ounce in over a decade prior to surgery (also didn't gain one either, but that's another story) so the very occurrence of losing is MAKING MY GD DAY, repeatedly!! :D

Thank you so much for all the kind words of support, I really appreciate it. I was just having a particularly down day yesterday, I seem to fluctuate between being really happy about my weight loss and really sad that I'm not loosing more quickly. Its so encouraging to know I'm not the only one out there that struggles with this :) Thanks again for all the support, its exactly what I needed.

I suggest start a new thread asking this question with more info about your diet and fluids, as well as the amount you want to lose.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
