lunarose 97 Posted April 7, 2011 Hi All, I was watching a repeat Dr Phil the other day and he gave us all a NSV. He was talking to a woman who had had WLS didn't say which. She was over 300lbs before and looked to be well in onederland. Dr. Phil said at one point "A lot of people think having WLS is taking the easy way out. I know that the opposite is true. There is nothing easy about it" Nice to hear.

MINI-Me 196 Posted April 7, 2011 ok ... I admit ... I can't stand Dr. Phil. But, this sounds like the one smart thing he's ever said. (Sorry to all of you that do like him - he's just not my cup of tea.)
coops 1,790 Posted April 7, 2011 I second that Dr Phil! It certainly isn't the easy way out ... I gotta be honest, I am struggling here in sunny Wales!!
Becca 108 Posted April 7, 2011 I am just wondering when the success of the sleeve is going to be told to the public. I know I've see a couple of shows here or there talking about it. It still seems like so many have no clue about the about the surgery. I am glad to hear someone say it isn't the easy way out.
ireland 0 Posted April 7, 2011 I'm soooo glad you shared this! My surgery is April 12. Not having second thoughts, but don't want to hear any negatives and that statement "its the easy way out" bugs the crap out of me! thanks for posting a positive
Margaret 4 Posted April 7, 2011 It does seem to appear on the news a bit more here and there! My surgery is in 12 little tiny hours!~ Whoo Hooooooo! I'll be back on asap! Thank you all for sharing and caring these past few months!
sleeve 4 me 910 Posted April 8, 2011 Good to hear that. Finally! Yayyyy Dr. Phil!
lunarose 97 Posted April 8, 2011 The only thing I wished he had done was do the whole episode on it. The woman was struggling a bit with the new her she had always identified her self as the big loud fat lady and now she needs to start looking at herself differently. One thing that was funny is that she had told her hubby that she did not want him to gush about her new body so he wasn't even though everyone else was and she was mad at him for it! He said "I married you at 320 because of who you are not what you looked like" what a guy!
MovinForward 2 Posted April 11, 2011 Great to hear, ty for posting! Too many people feel that way and we all know its anything but easy!
CraftyChristie 62 Posted April 12, 2011 Regardless of anyone's personal feelings of Dr Phil, he's extremely popular and has a huge following so it's great that he put this message out there to the masses!
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted April 12, 2011 I'm very glad to hear this, it's nice to get the word out to all the joe schmoes out there that really are clueless about WLS and what it entails. I've always wondered why Oprah has not thought about it for herself, she has struggled with her weight for so long. I know she's gone for PS, why not this? She needs to call up Star Jones and get the dish from her! I'm not judging her though, it's everyone's individual decision... but won't stop me from wondering. I knooooow, I don't get it either...I really think Oprah would love her sleeve lol! I think it's because she's put wls down so much, she feels like maybe she would be a hypocrite (?). Have you see Raven? She is skinny now, I'm thinkin maybe wls as well.

I kinda thought the same, I know she's (Oprah) pretty much dogged WLS and those who've gotten it. But hey, that's when you tell folks that "I was wrong, and now I'm jumping in with both feet!!" LOL I have seen Raven, she really does look awesome too. She's lost it well, if she did get WLS it doesn't seem like RnY or anything - she looks super healthy. I love my sleeve!!!
