I was just released from the hospital about 2 hours ago. I am personally in a lot of pain and i can't seem to get comfortable. I've tried to get comfortable and nothing is working. I had to stay an extra night because my blood pressure continued to go up. The reading that scared the nurses and me was 207/105. I was like man, what did i do? I've never had high blood pressure in my life and so hopefully it was just due to the pain. This is the most alert I've been since Monday afternoon. Can I use a heating pad on my left incision? That's the incision that hurts the worst.

well,

I'm about to take another nap.

YOu most totally can that left one gave me a fit too. You have to remember every day you will get a little better and stronger. I know right now it seems hopeless but I promise you will. Just try to focus on your walking and Water intake for a week or so and try to start your protein.. You will do fine..Just keep your head up

Yes, use your heating pad and take your pain meds on a schedule. It's much easier to prevent pain than squash it once it takes hold. Keep sipping, walking, and burping and I hope you feel better soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
